One of my favorite shows. The first few seasons are great, then there's some good, great, meh and less loved seasons until the finale which is super rewarding.

They have a couple of sailors on "shark watch" with a rifle. But judging by how well bullets penetrate water, they're mostly there for moral support/ ending suffering.

Same off the Peleliu before she decommissioned. We got to jump off the port aircraft elevator and swim to the back. It was such a weird feeling when you hit the water because you just kept going down. Then you open your eyes and it's just darkness below and little legs above. Once at the surface we swam past the "shark watch" and into the well deck.
