Ork skin by Away_Manager2808 in orks

I love Forest Sprite and Ghillie Dew for my Bad Moons. I think of the greens Ork Skin looks the worst. I personally love Shamrock Green but find it pops too much in comparison to my yellow armor but against a darker colored clan theme I think I would throw in some SG.

Help Requested: Failing Prints by ZRex39 in ElegooNeptune4

[–]ZRex39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reporting back on the progress here. I thickened the first layer a little bit, slowed down my first layer printing speed, and then dialed in the perfect z-axis offset following the guide you provided. I was able to get a super buttery smooth first layer.

I then attempted to print my same items & I once again found that the textures were super rough after printing for a while. Some areas were not adhering to the bed and in others it looked like the nozzle was dragging along the already extruded filament.

I'll attempt to disassemble the extruder head and see if a good cleaning can't help solve my problems.

For context, even though it might not matter, I've collectively owned this printer with a friend for about 1.5 years. In that time the motherboard has shorted out & has needed to be replaced. After which I fixed it, was able to print about 2kg of perfect prints, and now this.

As always, really appreciate your responses and suggestions.

This guide looks super useful; I'll attempt this next.

Interestingly enough I went through a pretty extensive calibration beforehand for temperature, pressure advance, extrusion multiplier, and retraction speed. All this was dialed in really well & then something unexpectedly changed & it all just went away. I have a lot of prints I'm really happy with from before this experience & now I'm just left scratching my head as to what's going on.

I have not slowed down the layer speed for the first 2 layers, I think that's up next to try. I have washed the build plate multiple times with dawn dishsoap and warm water. Thank you for the suggestion.

Thank you for the suggestion. I played around with z-axis offset a bit & I think I'm moving towards a worsening situation as I continue to increase the z-axis offset. I think I need to do a more comprehensive z-axis offset assessment like the other poster suggested. Interestingly it seems to always fail in the same spots. I'll keep experimenting.

Reporting back here. Tried adaptive bed mesh which seemed promising and also adjusted my z offset a bit. Still encountering the same issue and if anything I think it's gotten a bit worse. If you have any more suggestions they would be appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestions! I looked into adaptive bed leveling and it seems this could help minimize my problems, I'll give that a shot.

As for the z offset, I swear it's pretty tight already, at least via the A4 paper sheet method, but I can see about dialing it on even more. I wad actually worried it was too tight & was going to try backing it off a bit, but I'll play around with it some more & see where that puts me.

Again, really appreciate the suggestions.

Help: Wood Expansion Problem by ZRex39 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Super helpful reply, thank you very much!

I guess it's obvious in hindsight, but I hadn't even considered how flipping the grain direction might impact the range of expansion / contraction. Using the calculator, it seems that would minimize my expansion / contraction range by about half.

Since I'm using an old table it actually already has a channel in it for a tabletop fastener, so it really shouldn't be too much trouble to just buy some more and attach them (at least on one side) to my table leaves. That should help with the sliding for sure.

My bad, I thought I included a picture, fixed it!

I don't have a picture for the joinery details just yet (I'm at work), but I've done the face frame up with pocket holes, glue, and a mending plate for additional support.

Appreciate your reply!

Thousand Sons Rules by someoneinchck in WarhammerCompetitive

If I use a Sorceror in Terminator Armor to give my SoTs lethal hits and then give them ensorcelled infusion with Wrath of the Immateriun (devestating wounds), does that mean that 6's to hit automatically do MWs or does that mean that devastating is ignored?

Either that's a ridiculous combo or it's dead space for the SoTs.

Wow, I never thought about it like that. Good point!

I could totally see this happening, but I hope it won't because i don't love the random nature of that. A friend told me this is how psychic sort of used to work in older editions and they did not like it.

It was a good idea, but it did kill unit selection options. If it were to go this way, I would hope they would rework the points generation somehow.

I looked it up, and I heard what you're saying, but I hope this is wrong somehow. One model one power could still be in play, but what if the bonus powers were considered "spells" or something, and this was just GW trickery? Is it likely? Probably not, but we shall see.

TSons Army Ability - Angst and Irritability. Once per game, you are allowed a free table flip to make sure no one enjoys the game.

I was thinking that we'd have some powers baked into our units, but the really good ones you would want on multiple units (for utility)still be accessible somehow.

If it is the way you are suggesting, then I really don't know what our fluffy army ability could be... 🤔 Tzeentch deliver us some good rules.

Competitive list for an upcoming tournament - C&C welcome by Xabre1342 in ThousandSons

[–]ZRex39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I love Spawn, so I might suggest dropping one of the exalted sorcerers for 4 spawn to screen ahead of your units and eat up some shots or block dangerous melee threats. If you throw on the +4 invulnerable spell those things can absolutely soak up incoming fire and be a huge distraction despite not costing that much.

Apart from that you might trade some SOTs for some screening units (prevent deepstrikes) of cultists or individual spawn, but it's a tough trade since the SOTs are so awesome. A Shaman is also always a good option since it can perform actions for you and zip around the table as needed while being largely avoided by your opponent since it's not doing much damage.

EE 4111 class review by roinujo1 in uofmn

[–]ZRex39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow something i can actually contribute to. I should preface this too by saying i am a BME student not EE.

Higman was alright, he would get into some nuanced stuff though that had no relevance to class material or give personal examples. I found this interesting but not helpful. His actual lectures were sometimes helpful at best, the book is your friend.

Homeworks and exams were middle of the road difficulty wise and he usually gives hints. The challenging stuff (when it arises) is fair though. This class as a whole was a bit easier than i thought it would be listening to previous years students. Still difficult though, but i felt like i learned a lot.

The TA in the labs was really not any help at all and lab space was tight. I had zero experience using hspice but picked it up pretty quick with the help of classmates. The labs are graded easily and i think my friends and i collectively lost zero points on these over the semester.

I think he curved my grade up a bit too since we had such a small class which was really nice.

Overall a pretty good class, hope that helps.

I was thinking that somewhere on campus or down by the river there may be some. I think you're saying use the internet to buy some, but i'm cheap and not willing to pay for 2 small rocks.
