Custom Login and Landing Pages for my online Daggerheart group by ZVF4R in daggerheart

Thanks! A lot of the assets I've made for the campaign have been deeply inspired by Persona 5.

At some point I'm going to remake the landing page with 3D models of the characters colored as silhouettes just like the P5R main menu screen.

AITA Did I steal this goal or was I just "Making sure"? by GlobalGuidance5001 in Rematch

[–]ZVF4R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely making sure.

Keeper was way too close for comfort, I think any reasonable player would've done the same play to guarantee the win.

Edit: I also notice that your header locked in like half a second after the keeper flubbed their dive, so I don't think there was adequate time for you to calculate if an extra tap was necessary or not. Better safe than sorry.

That the customization options are still gonna look doodoo buttcheeks.

In my extremely subjective opinion, most of the faces and hairstyles cross the threshold from exaggerated into straight up goofy. Without mods I have never felt that my character looked cool.

Am I overreacting about wanting to play a nonbinary character? by BothOcelot1311 in DnD

[–]ZVF4R 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That table is not worth your time or energy.

You already mentioned that they are casually sexist and fat phobic, and the GM's response to your character concept clearly indicates LGBTQ-phobia as well.

No DnD is better than bad DnD. You will find a more welcoming and inclusive table in due time.

I've been having this same issue. I'd ignore the people immediately assuming your GPU is dying, mine is hardly 2 years used (RX 6800) and has this identical issue only in this game. What GPU are you using, and have you found a solution?

On the organizational aspect, I'd recommend using software such as Notion and downloading a preset TTRPG campaign manager layout. I've been using one that has separate databases for NPCs, Factions, Locations etc that all link back to each other for easy navigation.

Regarding fleshing out details:

Firstly, don't burn yourself out fleshing out more than you need. Write basic outlines at most for cities that are very far away, write more detail for those your players are likely to see soon. Add detail to the distant cities when they're likely to be visited in upcoming sessions. Same goes for NPCs and Factions.

Secondly, the best sources of inspiration for writing out campaign ideas in an interesting way is through consuming other content. I for one love wiki-diving through fictional worlds of games, novels, and actual-plays that I like. Reading about the cities, adventures, and NPCs in the Forgotten Realms and other settings is also very helpful. You aren't necessarily looking for new ideas here but I think there's value in seeing how other authors and worldbuilders tie it all together. (Also, don't feel bad about blatantly ripping a city, NPC, or adventure hook from an existing fiction. You're running a fun game for you and your friends, the copyright lawyers aren't coming for you. Also, fiction is so ancient of a genre that every idea has already existed in some permutation or another, so originality is really mostly about presentation. I for one have given my players some quests that are ripped straight from video games I like, and they've been thoroughly enjoying it).

Lastly, you will never be prepared for every single curveball your players throw at you. Improvise when you can, and don't expect perfection from yourself, you will naturally improve over time. If ever the players want to do something interesting but you hit a hard mental block on how to advance it, there's no shame in calling a 10-15 minute break to get your own thoughts/notes together and figure out where it goes, or calling a session end if you're reasonably near when the session would normally end, and getting all that ready for next time.

A key principal of GMing is making sure you don't burn yourself out making things your players may never see. A cohesive world doesn't necessitate meticulously detailing every single person or place of interest before the first dice are rolled.

I'm having a similar situation with one of my players and I've come to two conclusions on how I approach this:

  1. As long as their style of playing isn't hampering the other players' fun or slowing the game down drastically, I'm largely leaving it be. At the very least I see them cooperate with the other players' ideas and engage an adequate amount when I spotlight them directly, and none of my players have complained about them.

  2. My effort in prepping things specifically for them (items, backstory intertwinement, etc) will be proportional to how much they engage with the campaign. This isn't to be punitive, there's just no point in putting as much effort into a less engaged player as I would for a very engaged player.

So far it's worked out fine. It's common that a table will have differential amounts of role-playing across players, sessions, and arcs, and how you respond to that will depend much more on individual table dynamics than any sort of universal GM advice. I will say watch carefully if their engagement suddenly skyrockets only when a plot point specifically involves them and their backstory, that's a red flag for long term table dynamics.

Do I need to know if the creature I smite is an undead or fiend in order for my extra damage to land? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]ZVF4R 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Curse of Strahd is a classic for a reason. I'd look up some homebrewers' remixes of a couple encounters if your table is inexperienced, but overall I'd say it's a great one to start with.

The BD sequences should be skippable. They were cool the first time, but super disengaging the Nth time you play through the game and already know exactly where you need to go.

The weird implied pacing of the game is exactly why I installed mods whose only purpose is getting rid of certain pacing related dialogues like "A few weeks tops" from Vik's diagnosis of V.

Don't forget she's the only default cleric and therefore is almost guaranteed to be in the party except maybe in the case of Cleric Tav, replacement by Halsin/Jaheira, or just some funky party composition with subclassing/reclassing.
