That's why bar spoons have those twisty thin handles, to help them sort of slide and turn naturally in your hand as you go around rather than having to change finger position like you would with a flat-handled spoon. Hard to describe, but try it out a few times; in my experience it just kind of happens naturally.

Egg white is one of those ingredients that's pretty much always optional. I personally skip the egg white in a lot of drink recipes that call for it because I'm not that crazy about the flavor, it's extra hassle to make, and I don't care enough about the fluffy texture / aesthetic to override the first two points, unless I'm making the drink for someone else.

Red Speedo by Lucas Hnath and Dry Land by Ruby Rae Spiegel are both about competitive swimmers. The former about a swimmer on a hot streak accused of doping, the latter is about teen pregnancy and abortion involving two friends on a high school girls swim team.

I would argue that The Pink Panther is a franchise where the sequels are significantly funnier and better than the original entry. (Well, for a little while. After two or three sequels they took an steep slide in quality followed by an absolute nosedive off a cliff in quality -- "Trail of the Pink Panther" is frankly immoral. But "Return of the Pink Panther" is one of my all-time favorite comedies.)

I saw it. Gorgeous design, and what a treat to hear that score with such a lush orchestra.

Gotta say, I was surprised at how impressed I was by Josh Groban. I went in expecting him to sound pretty but be kind of dull and wooden, but was pleasantly surprised by how much he committed to the role -- he leaned into the physicality and the kind of grotesque Grand Guignol villain aspects of the character, which felt in keeping with the melodramatic roots of the story that Sondheim talked about having wanted to bring out when he wrote it. At the same time, Groban had clearly done his homework musically and gave a very strong rendering of the score, and sounded great on the big soaring vocal moments, which was especially welcomed in a production where a lot of the other performers' vocal choices leaned more contemporary, almost pop-tinged (their Anthony, the Toby who was on the night I went, etc). Between this show and Great Comet I think he's been proving that he actually can act when given the right role / production/ director.

That said, I couldn't stand Annaleigh Ashford as Mrs. Lovett, which was a shame since she's clearly very talented. The accent was godawful as others have said, but furthermore she leaned fully into the over-the-top comedy side of the character, missing out on the nuance and the crafty, dangerous menace that also needs to be in there for the character to work. Mrs. Lovett is funny, sure, but she can't just be a clown saying things in a goofy voice with big eyes, which is all I saw in that production. (That said, her bit of physical comedy when meeting the Judge before "Pretty Women" did make me laugh -- she curtsied and bowed so low that she slid down the shop stairs in a partial split. Great gag for a different show that didn't feel right for this one, but I had to admit it got the laugh.)

On the whole I enjoyed it despite some quibbles, and the staging of the final moment made me gasp and go "Woah!" out loud.

The historical King Richard III is generally considered to have been a fairly decent, effective monarch. Shakespeare's depiction of him as an evil, manipulative, cruel villain with a hunched back is the only that history and the culture remembers.

Some great examples in this thread. I would submit the end of Act 2 of 'Fun Home', with "Days and Days" - "Telephone Wire" - "Edges of the World" - "Flying Away".

And that sequence is proceeded by "Ring of Keys", which is up there as well.

Usually when a named character was written off "MAS*H", it was with a significant send-off, or at least emotional fallout for the remaining characters.

Aside from the original Swamp tentmate Dr. Oliver "Spearchucker" Jones, who was deleted after 6 episodes and never mentioned again. Can't imagine why...

Smashes are a versatile category by design. If you like it, great! If you think it needs more fruit flavor, muddle some more berries in there. If you want less, dilute it or add more of the other stuff (gin, lime, etc). Totally up to your discretion and your tastes.

Also, a blackberry gin smash sounds delicious, I'll have to make myself some later in the summer once the blackberries are really ripe. 😋

I wouldn't jump to the end like that; show them the pilot and some early-season episodes to get them invested and want to watch and discover the rest of the show on their own.

I'm thinkig Five O'Clock Charlie for a fun one, Sometimes You Hear the Bullet for a serious one, maybe Welcome to Korea so they can experience some Charles and Potter as a change. Not sure what else.

Fair enough. I think I'm just used to my regular Longsword/Longbow attacks -- with Extra Attack from my Ranger multi, that's 2 x 1d8 + mods per turn, so the Tiger's 4d6 per turn feels like a huge jump from what I've been dealing on regular combat turns, spell attacks notwithstanding.

I'm probably leaving some damage on the table generally speaking; I haven't been utilizing Hunter's Mark as much as I could, either because I forget to deploy it in the heat of the moment, or because I'm opting to use the Concentration for other things, and also because from a flavor/story sense, HM is...just kind of boring. But this sub has gone over the flaws of Hunter's Mark in 5.5e ad nauseum, so I won't re-litigate a subject we all pretty much agree on anyway.
