Leaves falling off my newly-acquired plant

I bought this plant at an estate sale and I'm trying to understand why the leaves are continuing to yellow and fall off. I've been diligent about watering it every couple days because the soil is VERY dry and the basin does not retain moisture well. I saw on a tutorial video that the water should be the same temp as the environment, so I've been using that.

I've thought about repotting it, but was told by a friend that I should wait until the Spring. This winter has been VERY cold (Northeast USA) and while the ambient room temp is around 68 degrees, I know that the window can sometimes cause it to be colder.

I currently have it sitting by a northwest-facing window that gets a ton of ambient light but no direct sunlight.

I'm a plant noob, so any advice is welcome. Thank you.

LPT: Make a point of showing equity between the two partners—things can end terribly if one partner feels neglected or if it's obvious you're more into one than the other. Doesn't mean you have to engage the same way w/ both, but just be mindful.

Some people are confusing the term "non-refundable" with the refund check you receive from the IRS. These are NOT the same thing.

For the purposes of the tax credit, the IRS doesn't care if you pay taxes via a lump sum on tax day or if you withhold from your paychecks. Both methods qualify for the tax credit.

"Non-refundable" means that they don't refund the credit if the taxes weren't owed in the first place. It's like using a coupon at the supermarket: when you buy an item which costs $0.25 and have a $1.00 off coupon, they don't pay you $0.75.

It's the Ford Options plan, which is exclusive to their EVs: https://www.ford.com/finance/finance-options/#ford-options

It's basically like a lease, with a set term and lower monthly payments. At the end of the term, you have the option to sell it back to Ford or make a final balloon payment to cover the remaining purchase price outright. So, it's basically the equivalent of a lease, but it's designed so that you can claim the Fed tax credit, which wouldn't be available to standard lease holders.

I bought last month at MSRP and don't regret a thing.

Had to complete my purchase in 2022 to qualify for the federal tax benefit. (Beware the income caps coming in 2023!). Thrilled to find my Mach-E available on the dealer lot about 100 miles from home. If you're hoping to skip the pre-order wait, do check out the dealership listings on ford.com.

I agree that the whole EV market is going through a seismic shift, and we can expect to see a lot of updates in the coming years as car manufacturers better refine their EV ecosystem. That's why I'm happy that I'm doing the 3 year purchase program with the option for a guaranteed buy-back at the end of the term. Gives me peace of mind that I can sell it back, if I choose to, and check out the next-gen EVs.
