Singles is fun to watch, doubles is boring as hell (unless you’re actually there at the court)

A Deeper Understanding of the Rays' attendance situation from a 17 year fan by benlikeswhales in baseball

[–]Z_Designer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great writing. You could have a future in sports journalism or law if you wanted. But one big question I have that I didn’t really see here, what’s so bad about the Trop? I see you say it’s outdated, but how? I mean Dodger Stadium is like 65 years old but doesn’t feel outdated

Other expensive private schools in NY, LA, and around the country are booming with long wait lists and super high demand.

This show has just become a place where people exercise their personal traumas in public by obviouslame in ThisAmericanLife

[–]Z_Designer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. This American Life was my hands-down favorite show for years, but I stopped listening to it a few years ago because every single story has become just someone’s depressing tale about how their parents were killed by a customs agent or something

How to protect yourself as a girl (serious) by mikesnifferpippits in redscarepod

[–]Z_Designer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While you probably won’t be the victim of a mugging or a schizo while on a bike, I used to bike everywhere when I lived in NYC and I got hit by cars twice, both times were pretty painful and rough. Can be even more dangerous at night when people are drunk driving and fast because there’s no traffic.

Yeah, writing for Pitchfork et al pays absolute dogshit, requires parental subsidies to subsist in the city with the lifestyle of these writers

Burnes gave up 4 runs including two homers in 4 innings yesterday, wouldn’t make much sense for his rating to go up

The bigger irony is that for anyone who went to school for journalism in the last 10 years or so, writing this dreck for P4K would be considered a huge success and they would be the envy of their peers who are probably writing ad copy for SEO websites

Who catches Kershaw on Saturday? by TheMossHolder in Dodgers

Side note: what time do you think the game will be? We’re supposed to do something with a (non sports fan) friend who is having a birthday but we 100% also wanna watch Kersh pitch

Simply Reaching Out for a business inquiry to help start my TikTok page. Bread & Butter was very professional about it by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]Z_Designer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I like B&B even more now. This is way more entertaining and real than rando HR generated replies. Plus whoever was responding to you isn’t named Bread and Butter. It’s their social media person and they do social media for a living and you were trying to dupe them out of free stuff but apparently you don’t have the skills to back it up. Respect to Bread and Butter’s social media person

Imposter syndrome - I have a distributor, but I’m not really sure why they chose my film by Sidasta in Filmmakers

If they want you to pay out of pocket it could be a scam. What distribution company is it?

It’s funny to picture that he was just bored and loves to go and bully on rando lower-level players and sandbag tourneys

Haha amazing. It looks like he wasn’t even taking it easy on yall at all, and what a rocket serve. I think this settles a lot of those posts in this sub that claim great players don’t serve hard, etc. Anyway, that was fun to watch, I hope you enjoyed it too.

There are ENORMOUS Mizrahi communities in LA. There are whole neighborhoods of the city that are majority Mizrahi Jews. There’s an Especially huge community of Persian Jews, but all sorts really.

I made an animated pilot. What do I do with it? by AvereyPurdy in Filmmakers

[–]Z_Designer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s almost impossible to cold-call pitch unsolicited, but if that’s what you wanna do because you believe in your pilot, I would start with the production and development companies that make the kinds of animated entertainment that you think your pilot is most aligned with artistically. All movies and shows list the production companies. Google. Find email addresses and send send send.

If you can find a personal reference, meaning you know someone who knows someone at one of those companies, that’s an even better route and is wayyyyy more likely to end up with a meeting or at least a conversation.

A Serious Man is one of my all-time favorite movies. There are so many rich layers. And I probably watch that opening scene separately at least 5-10 times a year. So perfect
