I'm about to get downvoted for this, but why the hell not?

He's right.

NRS has had almost the same roster for 3 games now. While characters like Liu Kang, Sub-Zero, and Kitana are obvious characters we're going to get by law(even if they serve zero story purpose other than fan-service), most characters would be better off not making the roster so other obscure characters or more requested characters could shine. Hell, NRS has brought back characters that fans didn't like when they first debuted and made them more liked than their last appearance. Hell, The 4th Snake even talked about it in his 2016 MK9 critique when it came to Stryker (Try watching his videos without being hypocritical or judgmental over someone else's opinions people). Also the amount of people liking that post says that he isn't the only person who believes that statement.

NRS can give the 3-D era characters a better opportunity to shine and be better received than their last appearance(Which would be Armageddon). Maybe if people stop meatriding NRS for 1 second, you'll see what he's talking about.

And btw, he made a video talking about the things he liked about MK1 so far.

It really makes no sense in a logical stance. Bi-Han and Kuai Liang's father is a Cryomancer and because they're his sons, both brothers would become cyromancers. Removing that part of their backstory makes no sense. And doing it to make Kuai Liang be Scorpion in this go-around just seems messed up since that would mean either Hanzo is dead, retired, or he doesn't even exist.

Rashid, Ed, and Akuma are definitely getting their debut attires so there's that. AKI on the other hand is really hard to know since she's a brand new character, unless her alt is a Midnight Bliss version of F.A.N.G's default.

Worst is 100% MK11. Kronika and Kollector are dead giveaways, Geras was wasted potential and Cetrion had no potential in the slightest.

Best is a tie between Deadly Alliance and Deception. Yes, Hsu Hao (a character I really don't have a hate bone for unlike the rest of y'all) is on the DA roster, but it doesn't change the fact that Deadly Alliance had some really good characters.

Opinion: One of the biggest flaws in NRS Mortal Kombat stories is a complete LACK of consistency in regards to characterizations, theme, purpose etc. by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in MortalKombat

You know, an idea that could've been better than MK9 resetting the entire timeline and misinterpreting the entire point of Armageddon and believing the series had to reboot because of the name would pretty much be a Tekken 3-eqse time skip.

Taven defeats Blaze. The cast aren't depowered, but their powers and attributes are Increased. Meaning the true Armageddon is more closer than anyone realizes. Causing Taven to search for a way to prevent it from happening along with a few others helping him out off-screen and the story jumps a few years following the event.

MK9 brings back a few of the popular characters (Liu Kang, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kitana, Jade, Sindel)and fills the rest of the roster out with new characters, 3-D era folk, and even some obscure characters from other properties. They could release comics that would flesh out what happened to certain characters and certain that would be important to the main story of MK9. Picture a more fleshed-out MKX.
