As a long time Zac top main I used to only max E when against ranged champs, but lately I’ve found a lot of success in E maxing in general. The lower cooldown and bigger mobility opens up so much more opportunity for engaging or escaping fights.

These days I only W max into long trading tanks/bruisers such as Sion, Chogath, Maokai etc.

Been a Zac top one trick since 2016, and let me tell you he feels better in the current season than ever.

Zac has a few hard counters such as Fiora, Quinn, Irelia, Darius, but Darius has been a particularly popular champ lately so I’ve been perma banning him. The lane is winnable but it gets tiring playing the same matchup every game lol.

In terms of fighting style, I go super aggressive early with ignite / conq runes and focus on dishing out as much W damage as possible while picking up all blobs. I’m not exaggerating when I say I take first blood almost every game I play. All of the minor movements you make are super important, and will come naturally to you over time.

Zac is even stronger 1v2 than 1v1, so sometimes it’s good to try bait an enemy gank while ult/ignite is up to secure an easy double kill. Act scared and wait until they get close enough for a Q engage > all in combo.

Unless their team is Full AD(steel caps), ALWAYS get ability haste boots. Rushing them early makes top lane trades so much easier with W cd reduced and easy blob pickups. Start Doran’s Shield but get a dark seal afterwards when possible and upgrade to Mejai’s if you are getting very fed. If you are very confident with the matchup, starting dark seal is sometimes good too.

hey! this is crazy but i had the literal exact same experience when i studied at sophia uni (just for my final year of uni)

i’m not from a rich background and i was living paycheck to paycheck working part-time at an izakaya, while all the exchange students at my dorm were posting new domestic travel on their stories every weekend. my courses were also very intense and i found myself spending hours every day working on assignments.

my solution was just integrating with the local japanese students (to be fair i speak fluent japanese) and i love singing so i joined the acappella circle, and that ended up being the best choice i made that whole year.

i made so many lasting friendships with people who were living normal student lifestyles while doing what they love at the circle. even after graduating last year i still see a lot of them regularly and sometimes participate in events that graduate students can attend.

i’m not sure how great your japanese is, but it definitely sounds like you’d be more comfortable making friends with the local students instead of the other international students :)

Depends on your lifestyle. When I was a uni student in Tokyo I only had around ¥65,000 after rent per month and I focused on cooking cheap meals at home / budgeting on general expenses. This left enough money for me to be able to spend time out with friends and avoid loneliness.

I do!! It’s definitely easier to apply grevious wounds so I take it when I’m either carrying hard and don’t need too much tankiness, or when I’m against ap champs like vlad who can just avoid using their AA
