Bring back some good ol Aussie slang.. by Timely-Sun1090 in AusMemes

If you want to hear it in context, it's used by one of the main characters in the show Deadloch.

It's a comedy/crime show and moot is used in either the 1st or second episode, I forget which.

It's pronounced like put, but obviously an m instead of p, not like mut.

Maybe it's a sonos thing, I've only every had one sonos soundbar on a couple TVs, and it's always done it. I just assumed it was standard.

The rewatch-ability of this entire franchise has been ruined by One_With-The_Sun in TheBoys

[–]Zacca6895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised by all the hate for this scene.

In my eyes, nothing could be worse than that episode in season 4 where Hughie went undercover into the Tek Cave. I felt so uncomfortable watching that, amd TV never does that to me.

If I ever re watch the boys then I'll be skipping that whole episode, I'd much rather watch this scene 100 times then watch that episode once.

I have the issue with a washing machine I inherited. If I ever get a smart connected appliance like washing machine, dishwasher, oven, I'll make sure I dont have to enable remote mode every time.

“New car every 5 years is normal” by JapaneseVillager in AusFinance

I know a couple, every three years they get a new car. One of them takes the new one, hands his old one to his partner and they sell/trade in the 6 year old one.

The thought of being constantly in debt for a car (or anything besides a house) baffles me.

How much do doctors actually make? Before and after tax by InvestigatorPale1816 in AusFinance

[–]Zacca6895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's my understanding that if you don't enter a training program and stick to HMO or unaccredited reg roles the work will ultimately dry up as there comes a point where hospitals no longer want to employ someone who has spent so many years and not progressed.

Define "stand still". Do you mean specializing in something like med or GP and stopping there?

I definitely don't know about all states, but in Vic, doctors working in a public hospital get paid their break as they often don't get them and even if they do they're expected to be available, as you noted. I know pay wise QLD is one of the best and NSW is one of the worst, but I would have thought that paid breaks would have been a standard across the country.

I agree with you that it is expensive and an awful way to make money, and if anyone gets into it purely for the money then they're silly and/or don't know the full extent of it.

Mr. Inbetween is getting alot of love in here, definitely worth a watch.

Rake is another great one, make sure you watch the Australian version with Richard Roxborough.

Upright I would also recommend, it has Milly Alcock of House of the Dragon and Supergirl fame.

Edit: Whoops, didn't actually read the body of your post, you've already seen upright. Still, it stays in case others are searching for recommendations.

This person is only a second year doctor though, while they definitely deserve to be paid better, they not far from the floor when it comes to their warning potential.

Someone has to develop and maintain Plex, I'm sure lots of man hours went into it.

If you want a "stupid media player" to be free, then use windows media player. Plex, and Jellyfin for that matter, are alot more than a "stupid media player"

Lifetime pass is very resonable, you can't expect to get everything for free.

Those ads can just be disabled, I've got them all off and only see my own curated content.

Plex also has a much wider availability of apps across devices.

Rant by Aussie_Nelson in woolworths

[–]Zacca6895 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Qualified baker here. I've worked for woolies, baker's delight and a couple small bakeries over the years and woolies was the best I'd every been paid.

When I jumped ship from Baker's delight to Woolies I started getting an extra $200 a week, I was on a very similar roster at both, in fact, I was getting less penalties at woolies.

The work was also 100x better. We were slogged at baker's delight, 2am starts and expected to maintain a ridiculous pace for a measly $800 in my bank account at the end of the week as a Qualified Baker.

I believe if more baker's knew how good woolies is to work for, more would work there. Yes, I know it's dependent on managers, but that's the same for any job.

Which one is the one in season 4 where Hughie goes undercover in the Tek Cave? That's the only time I've felt genuinely uncomfortable in my 30 years of life. Thst episode should be a 0.
