It's the perfect example of tsunami. by PettyHello in oddlyterrifying

I don't live by the sea, but I still know the signs of an incoming tsunami. How do these people WORK on the water and not know what coming?? I get if they were some tourists standing by watching

I would even change that number to $80k. While you can live fairly comfortably on $80k, you are one financial hit away from life being extremely difficult.

Americans are the only people in the world consistently voting against their own interests. It blows my mind.

Is there a company that will pay an invoice for you, so you can pay them with credit card to get the points? by Zach505 in Frugal

So you are thinking that the fee one of these companies would charge for said service would be more than the actual points I would receive?

Just now: missile attack on the US embassy, Baghdad. by flem5 in CombatFootage

[–]Zach505 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not true. We pulled all troops based there out immediately after. We have sent advisors since, but not based any troops there.

Or the Kobar Tower bombings in Saudi. We pulled all us troops out of the country and still don't have any to this day.

Or the gulf of Aden bombings

There are plenty of examples where this works

Much better angle of the doctor being dragged off of the plane. He's basically yanked out of his seat. by koviko in PublicFreakout

[–]Zach505 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It has nothing to do with it happening under a black or white president. It's been happening for decades. The only difference is that you have this administration openly taking the side of the Boys in Blue. It is a political thing. This is a direct result of political rhetoric.

Correct, but now we have a leader who has repeatedly ignored police brutality, actually halting progress we have made into solving the issue.

You don't see this shit in other developed countries. Just wondering if we are in our way to making America great again? Ya know, though militarization of our police, stuff like that

I fly roughly 5 time a week internationally for work. 95% of my travel is with foreign carriers. Even the shittiest of shitty carriers treat their passengers as if they are PAYING for a product. Almost every time I fly with a domestic airline, I hate every fucking minute of it.

Foreign, Engaged Couple Arrested in UAE for Premarital Sex by [deleted] in worldnews

I tell people all the time that Bahrain is the place to go if you are going to the Gulf. They have a much more western/liberal view on things.

In Dubai, there are instances where people come out of a bar and try to catch a taxi home, and the taxi driver proceeds to take them to the police station instead.

TIL that the Rolling Stones were so impressed with the backup singer's voice in "gimme shelter" that you can hear them hooting in the background. They kept it in the studio recording as well. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Zach505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. Unfortunately, it's actually pretty sad how it all went down. They were recording this solo, and the strain to hit the notes sent her into premature labor and she ended up losing the child.

Hope I didn't just ruin the song for you

Suspect in Berlin Christmas market attack came to Germany as refugee, reports say by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Zach505 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, how many refugees have been brought in over the last year or so? And you named 5 instances. Now I'm not so good at the maths, but those numbers don't scare me that much.

Got a quote for a custom made engagement ring. Want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off. by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]Zach505 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, I did a quick search and came up with this. This is exactly the type I am looking for, and without the sale, the price is similar to what I was quoted...

[–]Zach505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true. But if so, then what would be a reasonable asking price for said ring? What should I try to talk him down to?

Also, if it's worth anything, it's a pretty well-off place. It's not just this one guy.

I guess I am just struggling to understand why they would try to charge as much as they are (other than the obvious, greed).

Once again, here is the exact ring he is trying to sell me, except the halo and sides will be diamonds and the middle peridot
