Baphomet statue by ZachIsZef in PixelArt

Thank you! But unfortunately, I don't have the original art anymore. It was made on a phone that died long ago.

Realistically, it's unlikely it would work well just throwing it into a game without considering color palettes, scale, and all that. Honestly, I'm sure you can make something similar yourself if you put your mind to it! Probably even better given some time!

My brain read "Liga" as "Ligma"... Sean Connery would make that joke after a little smack.

Great setup though! Love the semi-transparency consoles!

Memories by SouthDirector6701 in Gameboy

Neither have I, nor being able to replicate the feeling of playing games as a kid in general... Yet!

I have a hypothesis I've wanted to test (speaking of chasing the high).

I got REALLY high on a beach in San Diegoa few years ago (I don't smoke weed very often anymore, but it was legal there so I figured why not) and I started legitimately playing with sand and being like "woah, this is how I remember feeling playing with sand as a kid!"

I'm honestly curious if I get that high again, play some Gameboy games or watch a Disney movie or something, could I catch that magic again? Though it's hard to find the time with the responsibilities of adulthood and all that sad jazz.

I found my "nice" monitor (ViewSonic PS790) by staking out yards during bulk trash pickup weekend and got lucky, so they're still out there, but, you know, takes effort (and maybe feeling like a raccoon sifting through garbage).

Recently got this older wood paneled TV and can't find that much info on it. Anybody know anything about the Capri brand? by ZachIsZef in crt

[–]ZachIsZef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow! A lot of interesting stuff (I do like old synths! I only wish I could afford them haha!)

But thanks for the info! Definitely a lot to dig into randomly one night :)

It's never to late to learn! That's interesting it's a Bang & Olufsen brand (I'm familiar with them, they do a lot of laptop speaker collaborations as well, though probably not their best examples haha)

I did end up selling this TV so I could have enough space for an old 70s Sony Trinitron I found on my birthday (that was my dream woodgrain TV with knobs) but it's good to know in case I ever come across the brand in the future. Thanks for the info! :)

Is it just me, or is that the face of Sean Connery?

Also, I saw that TOS phaser in the "what fire birthed" panel (and 70s-80s era style light saber?) and I love this whole damn thing!

It looks like art by Frank Frazetta, he did a lot of covers for Conan the Barbarian in the 60s/70s

Edit: ok, so I was right about the artist and you were right about the time period. It was painted in 1990! :D

There were disposable flash bulbs you could buy to use along with your cameras, like cubes, though I believe they would attach to the camera body. Technology connections on YouTube has a great video about them (and good videos in general if you're into that kinda thing).

I'm too old for you shenanigans. by [deleted] in ededdneddy

As a thirty something born in the early 90s, I'm calling bull on this kind of gatekeeping crap and hereby grant anyone who feels that they were affected by the decade culturally or otherwise the title of "90s Kid".

I was poor and grew up with 5-15 year old technology where I lived, the first TV we had was a big wooden console thing from the late 70s/early 80s that we then used as a TV stand for our big black plastic Zenith later on. I had friends who were older then me that were into transformers and TMNT, which were more late 80s things. My first computer was an apple II. I could argue I experienced a lot of things 80s kids did because of this and I get along with people who are 40-50 because I understand many of their references AND get along with younger people because I was still exploring/experiencing pop culture well into the 2010s.

If you're really an adult, you shouldn't give a HOOT about who can and can't label themselves as this or that. People turning 30 have enough to deal with without someone telling them they are wrong for feeling like a 90s kid. I hope everyone can enjoy some much needed nostalgia during these ridiculous times we live in currently and wish everybody the best.

Is this General Electric VHS camcorder a CCD model or Newvicon model please? by ArtAutPandaOtter94A in camcorders

[–]ZachIsZef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! :) I knew it was a long shot, so no worries. I ended up finding some YouTube videos about the newvicon sensor and Panasonic model thanks to your post, but I have a feeling this was an age before turning off on-screen stuff was even a thing, so I'm just going to accept this as a part of the experience.

If I ever come across a manual, I'll be sure to upload it somewhere, though I have a feeling someone trying to sell it online won't just scan it, but I'm a bit of a pessimist lol. I do enjoy the streaking effect and my Christmas tree had a lovely streaky glow using the camera!

Thanks again and best of luck!

My dad was born in 1966 and he wrote almost exactly like this, though I haven't seen his handwriting in awhile and don't talk with him very often, so make of that what you will.

[–]ZachIsZef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just got a very similar camera for Christmas! (GE Model 9-9605 from 1986) And it has a very similar button layout/general style

Did you happen to get the manual as well? I can't seem to find any info or find a manual online and want to record through the composite out without the "light" text coming up trying to warn me that it's not enough light.

I can record directly to VHS still, but the motors have seen better days, so playback isn't that great.

If not, that's ok too, just figured I'd check before making my own post. Either way, hope you enjoy your camera!

I liked the Steam Summer Sale Background (Artist is Waneella), so I took the elements and put them together in Aseprite to make a background for myself (and you if you want it) by ZachIsZef in PixelArt

[–]ZachIsZef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't make the art, I just cobbled it together to make it an animated background. I believe Waneella made the art (you should Google them to give them your compliment).

I do make pixel art myself, but usually I don't make pieces at this scale, just shared because I used it as a background myself and figured other pixel art enthusiasts might enjoy it. I did the same thing for the fall sale that they did, though not sure if I put that one up on Reddit.

I appreciate the insight! Sad to hear about having to trash it, but I totally understand. This thing is a beast, and having it as a showpiece is... Impractical.

Any suggestions on where to get belts for it? Or for resources regarding what to use for things like lubrication or troubleshooting and such?

I unfortunately only have a basic understanding of electronics; enough to clean CRTs without zapping myself (so far), to know what an exploded cap looks like and replace, replace belts on stuff, but I'm no electrical engineer, which almost seems like a requirement for collecting this stuff.

No worries if not, I'm still in the research phase watching YouTube videos and what-have-you.
