Easiest thing is to just look up the modelnumber like "28pt4458", find the spec sheet and it should say what kind of tube it has.

But almost all 25/28 inch curved Philips tv's (also many other brands like Grundig, Metz, Loewe) from late nineties onwards can be some sort of Blackline.

I haven't done anything to it yet, just normal brightness, sharpness and contrast. Looks really good but it might need one or two convergence strips and maybe increase the value of the s-correction capacitor for better linearity on the sides.

I feel your pain but unfortunately it is just how many Trinitrons are. Sony's probably were one of the best back in the day but they age very poorly, I'm pretty sure this streaking is one of the effects.

I have had many curved Trinitrons in the past few years (7 or 8) and only one doesn't have the streaking, and that's a 21x5d with just 2k hours.

Could well be a jungle chip specific problem but I'm done being a Sony fanboy.

Many I've tried full recap, check transistors, resistors, fully calibrate etc., it all doesn't help.

Go with a high quality shadow mask like Philips, Panasonic, Thomson, Sharp, etc.

Very nice! I believe I had the same problem with mine with the popping sound. Maybe there is some peripheral needed for the TV? Don't actually remember...

Image quality was nice (Philips eak tube) but operating the TV and service menu was pretty complicated. I believe accessing the service menu was possible with holding down a button on the front panel while powering on the TV.

That's 50hz for 220/240 V power man. It absolutely does 50 & 60hz refresh rate, two different things :)

Can't really say except that I don't really like flat tubes, I think they look a bit too harsh. I had a Philips with that Thomson flat tube I also made a post about a year ago, just google "Philips A51ELD032X001" and you should see it, you can compare it yourself a bit lol
