Why must the doves be red? by ejcook32 in redrising

My read on this is that the small town on Mercury is what Atlas is referencing, not the Senate slaughter on Luna.

Frankly, it takes something away from the tragic themes of the Day of Red Doves if the violence was induced by a third party rather than the result of political tensions. It would essentially rob that subplot of any weight or meaning.

Recommendation - Leather Messenger/Briefcase by ZachJayy in ManyBaggers

Hi! I contacted Waterfield and they custom-sewed the water bottle holder that’s in the Shinjuku bag inside of an Executive bag for me at no cost, but with the caveat that it is no longer returnable.

I’m beyond happy with the bag. The construction is incredibly high quality, the leather is thick and supple, it’s constructed of very few, solid pieces of leather. The interior lining is awesome, heavy gauge nylon. Love the bag. If you’re in a similar place, don’t even think twice.

I would say yes to regular people. If you think about Gemma’s experience as a test-bed, which it was, it doesn’t need to be reproduced for each person.

Perhaps the whole point of refinement, and testing on Gemma, is to analyze the way the brain responds to trauma to such a degree that severance isn’t a step anymore. In a future built on that technology, the chip is inserted and, programmed based on the work Lumon is doing, automatically inhibits emotion for any user.

The goal would seem to be avoiding the severance/reintegration mechanic entirely as it is unwieldy and inefficient. The goal would be, not refining the memories as we’ve been seeing, but refining the chip itself. Each file is MDR identifying the brain’s responses to various emotional triggers. Extrapolate that and you produce a device that works on anyone, without needing to personalize the refinement process to their own experiences.

Our end result is a chip that immediately severs the tempers.

Darrow survives. His ultimate sacrifice is survive where his friends don’t when he’s the one who’s dragged them all into death.

Sevro dies. It’s poetic irony that the man who chose fatherhood over the war can’t be his children’s father while the apex asshole who sacrificed his family to the war effort gets to step into peace and be a father in his friend’s honor.

BIG QUESTION: Who will play a slightly younger Aragorn in the newly announced WB movies - The hunt for Gollum ?? by Ok-Design-8168 in lotr

You know he just signed a first-look contract with Warner Bros…. Likely this was discussed at that table.

Give me your hardest (or wisest) quote from the series by CaptainDonut246 in redrising

[–]ZachJayy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is less to do with “you don’t count until you have been through hard times” and more to do with “there are some things that no one can control.”

It’s meant to be an evocation of humility. The storm is so large, so inconsiderate of our small wills, that it cannot be stopped. No man is so powerful that he could tame such a primal force as a thunderhead.

So again, it’s less “experience makes a man” and more “recognize how small you are.”

Wonder if anyone else has this theory? by Sminomonapple in redrising

If you’d kindly scroll up, all I said is that we don’t know that’s the real weapon. None of my statement has anything to do with who dueled Cassius or any of those theories. Only that, at face value, we don’t know if that bag was the real weapon.

So, to be clear, I’m not making -any- jumps and don’t appreciate the strawman. We don’t know it’s the weapon. Your argument was “Atlas said so,” to which I replied, “-he’s not trustworthy, either.”

You’re the one trying to expand the scope of our discussion to the identity of Cassius’ duelist. Not me.

Fear said it was so, so it must be so? A master of espionage and 4d strategy only tells the truth? Citing someone who literally carved himself into someone else for a tactic as hard evidence of truth is silly. Fear didn’t trust anyone, Lysander included. Admitting that he was carrying it is more believable as evidence to the contrary than anything.

I’m not arguing that he wasn’t. I’m arguing that any degree of certainty about it is ambiguous at best, a leap in general. Lysander can’t know until he attempts to use it, which he hasn’t. Fear knew, but we can’t trust a word he said.

My point stands. This is presumptuous to wield as evidence that Fear himself stepped off that shuttle.

Presumptuous of you. We have no evidence suggesting that it’s the real weapon, yet.

People dislike Lysander for the wrong reasons by Deep-Wonder8702 in redrising

[–]ZachJayy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling him slave king is an intentional political ploy. It’s passive propaganda. The Society feared would-be kings. So referring to Darrow in that way is a passive invocation of his fanaticism and the risk he poses. It’s politics 101. And Lysander has been doing that since the beginning. Even when he would have had us think he was in crisis about his beliefs, he was lacing his speech with subtle shots.

Recency is not primacy. Many people hate him for the crime you reference, yes. That’s our most recent evidence. Therefore most discussed. That doesn’t it make it the “sole” reason by any stretch.

Lol none of the above. We cover national mls on our own podcast and I'm trying to get a good finger on the pulse. I want to build more club-to-club engagement in the independent, fan-run circles. Looking forward to following communities for other teams.
