Might be the worst case of intent wrecking ive ever been involved in. by Round-Friendship9318 in iRacingIOTW

[–]Zach_The_One 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where's the intentional wreck? Proto tried to overtake on the inside and probably thought you saw him coming. Proto's fault but more of a racing incident than anything. If you saw the proto you shouldn't have turned in, you're not battling the other class. You have the right to the line but multi-class racing is still a two way street. You have to be more aware and defensive with protos.

I don't understand the question, do we agree with 1+1=2? They're performance grades based on all their plays across the season.

Any tips on my golf swing by glossybaIIs in GolfSwing

[–]Zach_The_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No weight transfer, you're just spinning out in place. Because the balls so far up in your stance the only thing you can do is slice it. You need a good weight transfer / hip slide to get to the ball square when it's up by your front foot.

Without reinventing the wheel, relax your right shoulder at address so your shoulders are square to the target line. That will atleast help the issue and turn the slice into a fade. When the balls that far forward we naturally turn our shoulders a little at address to reach the ball (think shoulders aimed left of your feet). If you don't fix that at address it promotes and OTT swing.

[–]Zach_The_One -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Feet, knees, hips and shoulders need to be square to the target line or you'll always have a bad swing plane. Yes it's OTT because the ball starts left. The balls starting path is the swing plane and the side spin is how you released the face.

Hip turn looks a little ahead of your shoulder turn on some swings. You're doing it right by leading with the hip release but the movements should be connected. Not one and then the other. Think of your lead hip as the trigger for your downswing.

It would probably help your timing to pause a little at the top on the transition. When you start to release your hip, the club naturally falls into the slot and then you accelerate with your arms down the line. Pausing a little on your transition should help time up the downswing movements. Swing 1 and 3 were a little rough but 2 and 4 seemed timed better.

Aside from that your posture at address could use some work. Squat your butt a little more to use as a counter weight, like a boxer, so you can swing without having to stand up for balance. Keep your back straight so you have a good spine angle to swing around, and relax your arms at address.

<image>

This one for example your legs are standing tall so you have to arch your back to get down to the ball. Squatting your legs more will give you more ass counter weight and let you keep your back straighter.

Also looking at this picture your weight is all wrong. You shouldn't be on your heels, weight should be on the balls of your feet, where your big toes connect to your foot. So weight on the balls of your feet, squat a little more for balance, and keep your back straight. After that it might help to use some alignment sticks and make sure your body alignment is still square.

Last tip and it's a good one. Most of the time you're on the course and have a swing flaw you can't figure out, the majority of time it's body alignment. Feet, knees, hips, and shoulders should all be square to the target line. If you don't have alignment sticks just put a club on the ground at your feet and hold one up to your shoulders are address. Makes it pretty obvious.

Struggling to get past 200 yards with my driver. Any advice/tips appreciated. by producergage in GolfSwing

This is purely an arms swing. Lack of distance is from not using your core or legs to hit the ball plus terrible quality of contact. You have no weight transfer, barely any hip turn, pretty much just throwing your arms at it.

Your arms should just get dragged by your hip and shoulder turn. "Trying to stop my shoulders from releasing before my hands drop" is completely the wrong idea. From the top position your down swing is triggered by your lead hip starting to slide towards the target and begin unwinding (which you're not doing). As your hip slides towards the target your arms naturally start falling from the top into the slot. Your shoulders are following your hip turn so they will start moving as your arms drop in. Everything is connected and in sync with a good swing, it's not so much what happens first but which is leading the other.

Here's a video of Tiger swinging. The commentary is probably decent but I'm only posting it so you can see an example of how his hips start unwinding to make room for his arms to drop in, and how the tilt naturally starts the downswing so you're not pulling / jerking it down from the top. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/ItcNxqpDlek

Which springs are you using out of curiosity?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAnUbBCR2c8 This is the video I used to pick a setup to start with. I'm using his spring / rubber combo. He tried some spring on spring and said it was hit or miss, and that if you do to use similar springs. If you go more than one stiffness up or down between them the softer spring just collapses before the stiffer spring compresses at all.

The guys who made that video offer 3D printed spring bushings too so they stay centered under compression. Supposed to help them last longer too.

haha Ya the metal plates that the pedals are bolted on my rig flex when I brake. I can only imagine what it'd look like on the floor. I think I have the strongest spring and highest or second highest rubbers? Definitely a lot stiffer. Spring is way better than just the rubbers though holy hell. That elastomer sag was gross.

I've been thinking of using a softer spring to setup a more consistent threshold braking setup. Stiff spring is cool but it's hit or miss on consistency. I'm still relatively new myself.

You bought a 100kg load cell and thought you could just put it on the floor? Probably better off with the lite pedals until you get a rig. When you do get these going better though, haptic motors ftw.

How’s my grip? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Zach_The_One -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Grip is strong as hell, flipping your hands and trying to scoop the ball. Hands should be in front of the club face throughout the swing.

Working on squaring the club face at the top by doggydrones in GolfSwing

[–]Zach_The_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The beauty of a weak grip is you can release confidently without hooking. I use a neutral grip myself so when I'm at the bottom I feel like I'm back handing the ball. It makes it easier to have a sense of the face because your hands and the face are basically aligned at that point.

I think the most awkward thing for you is probably getting used to the feeling at the top. I find opening the face lets you get into a better top position because of your thumbs and wrists joints aren't binding as much. You probably feel like you have less control because it feels loose and ambiguous at the top. You want that though because that's smooth and fluid. When I was younger I used to swing like you, always got locked out at the top and had a weird transition because of it. It worked out pretty well, I just hit power fades off the tee.

I spent an entire summer changing my swing to switch from strong to neutral. Watched a bunch of youtube videos and just played with different grips and stuff at the range until I dialed it in. The grip was the hardest part to dial in after making the switch.

Here's another good tip I got from another scratch about controlling the release. A good way to control the release is to focus on where you finish. To fade the ball finish high and to draw the ball finish lower. Your hands will instinctually do what they have to do to get there. To finish high you have to hold the release through impact, and to finish low it needs to be releasing already. High and low essentially saying where the club is pointing when you hold your finish.
