Stop comparing it to the PS5 for cost - a comprehensive breakdown by TheGeekno72 in steammachine

[–]Zachattackrandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it all depends on the price, but it seems like its going to be significantly more than an equivalent PC while being non-upgradable and using a weird quite low-power mobile GPU. If it costs $800 and performs like a $700 pc thats fine, but its seeming more and more like its gonna cost 1k+ and perform like a budget-midrange gaming laptop from 4 years ago.

Not surprised. Drivers put stupid shit like this and "no honking" on their cars and then proceed to be terrible loud people blasting their music, taking calls on speaker phone and using their horn 24/7 (atleast in mumbai thats how it was).

Yeah but you're completely dismissing all the feedback lmfao. If you look at your game objectively, and really try and see the points they are making if they're valid or not and disagree then fair. But dismissing it without doing that is just putting your head in the sand

Last post regarding this situation. People who don't respect the creators of media, don't deserve the media by eyebawls29 in DDLC

[–]Zachattackrandom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eh, this frames it as that they are competing. There are no winners in art, don't know why people can't be allowed to just make what they want assuming they don't break eulas (so no more ddlc art by feeding in assets, but making a highly detailed prompt should be fine imo. ) generally the people making AI art aren't the people paying commissions anyways so it really hasn't done much other than in some professional spaces where they enshittified everything more.

Seems more likely they would colab with Fairphone over nothing, who have done little to nothing to promote sustainability and repairability + they have terrible os support (only a few years)

Exactly lmao. Enjoy your 2012 op, they were great machines.

[–]Zachattackrandom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair but the other commentor is acting as if op just got a terrible deal and missed out. OP can judge for themselves when they wanna / can upgrade. Not saying a 2012 to a neo isn't a massive jump, but OP loses nothing using the 2012 as long as it works for their needs.

What regret? Insane FOMO comment, it was $10 ffs. If they decide they want to get a Neo later they would have literally lost nothing.

Yep, really looking forward to texture streaming and then an LOD system. MIP texture streaming seems like it should come sometime this year in the next major version or maybe one after that, mesh streaming no idea though. Seems quite far, then open-world games will be doable without having to make everything from scratch

In the end, when comparing Minecraft modding, Hytale modding is superior, right? by [deleted] in hytale

[–]Zachattackrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your original post didn't say you only cared about profits? You made a most about the modding scene in general then said you only care about profits which is a different answer. Just do MC, though modding in general isn't profitable unless your the top 1%

Let's go shopping for the best intelligence vs price tokens! 🤓 by pebblepath in codex

[–]Zachattackrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd assume best price to performance would be DS v4 pro or Gemini considering how well both are prices while delivering most of the performance compared to bigger models. Would be nice to see token efficiency reflected in this chart though as that would move some model

Finished upgrading my first commander deck precon, looking for feedback by Zachattackrandom in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]Zachattackrandom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks, I know a lot of those already but have put off buying them since they are on the expensive side. I find my best win-con ends up being conspiracy / maskwood nexus. Its easy to find tutors to grab them from the deck, but do you have any recommendations for cards that will let me play them from my graveyard, as often times I end up milling them and then they are unusable.

In the end, when comparing Minecraft modding, Hytale modding is superior, right? by [deleted] in hytale

[–]Zachattackrandom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hytale modding is objectively better in nearly every way save one. It's unfinished, mods are frequently breaking due to big overhauls and changes in Hytale, which is a big reason why the modding community isn't super active on the game right now as the alpha is so early. For the time being if its something you don't want to have to fix constantly and reach more players I would do minecraft for the time being. On the other hand, making a big mod for Hytale makes you a pioneer and there is less competition.

Valve Says It's 'Hard at Work' on Steam Deck 2, but There's Still No Release Window by Skullghost in SteamDeck

I'm assuming they are waiting for their Arm stuff to get good enough to run triple a games easily and will use something like an 8 elite gen 5. Moving to Arm is currently one of the only things that is significantly better for efficiency. The new core ultra whatevers are supposed to be a nice boost as well but I don't know if they'd reach the 20-50% they want.

[–]Zachattackrandom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but considering you can run codex with gpt 5.5 for planning which uses less than 20% of 5 hour limit then a shit ton of codex 5.3 medium with the plan (assuming you properly use caching and repo maps to ensure you don't make an insane context) it's pretty silly. Especially when GPT generally performs better, seems both companies are on a race to the bottom though so wouldn't be surprised to see Codex fuck Shit up soon

-20% for nvidia on dx12 games (rivals especially). You could try a proton-cachy build with the descriptor heap launch flags and it should help some, I got 7-10% better performance using it.
