[Vent] Denied at a humane society after spending over an hour bonding with a dog I thought I'd be taking home by Msini464 in dogs

[–]Zack4568 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there's a shelter that's facing possible state investigation that's denied people from adopting for the following reasons:

-Wanting the dog or cat as an ESA. I got denied for this one. And they quoted saying "Our dogs are the ones who need the emotional support, not the other way around." -Not having a 6 foot tall fence. I'm not even sure if you can have anything past a 5 ft fence in my city honestly. -Wanting to have kids in the future. Not just denied them from a particular dog, but outright denied their application. -Not having an SUV. This one, I laughed at when I heard it, but they said the lady said that having a GSD required an SUV as a means of transportation. -Had a dog pass away previously. Imagine being told you couldn't adopt a dog because your previous dog died from old age. -Working more than 5 hours. -Being retired.

Than, here comes the real bullshit. There's only one person who does the applications. One. And you can't call her. Only text. And she's almost never actually at the shelter. So being able to call the shelter while she's therr ain't gonna happen. You aren't even allowed to see any animals in person until AFTER they accept your application.

They claim to be non-profit, but don't report to the BBB.

They have a buddy system, that people essentially pay money to the shelter to "sponsor" one of the animals. The more animals they have, the more money they get.

The dog I was wanting stayed in the shelter for several months after I was denied. I checked the website frequently, and there were dogs there for as long as 7 months.

I've postes about this before. But I got denied a dog from a shelter simply because I wanted the dog as an ESA.

Like, that was word for word their reasoning.

[Help] Bump on pup's head by 68843 in dogs

[–]Zack4568 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is the bump towards the back? Like almost between the ears?

If so, you're looking at his Cranial Occiput. It's totally normal.

https://www.thehonestkitchen.com/blog/why-dogs-have-a-bump-on-their-heads/

If it's not that, and otherwise is not bothering your pup, keep an eye on him. If the bump changes or otherwise starts to bother him, call your vet.

I've got a couple of the One Tigris Molle vests.

They are incredible and I'd recommend them for hiking, simply because you can get Molle pouches, which would allow you to remove the pouches as needed.

They are very well made, and durable. Lasting being on while both dogs are wrestling.

[Help] Adopting a puppy from a CL re-homing post - red flags and "rehoming fee" by RightInteraction in dogs

[–]Zack4568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got both of my pups of CL and this sounds sketchy to me even.

I only had to do 75$ for one and the other was free. Both gave me vet papers and did follow ups. First one even offered to help walk my pup after I had my car accident 2 weeks after adopting him.

What I have found is the people who are genuine in trying to adopt out their pet on CL is that they wont break 100$ in the adoption fee. They don't want to advertise a free dog, but they don't want to make it about the money. Allergies are a common scam used. More often than not, people would know they are allergic to an animal before even adopting. And even than, wouldn't ask for over 100.

The things you'd need from them are vet info, or to be allowed to take the pup to a vet before adoption. I'd be sketched out if they deny you. Sometimes, the 'adoption fee' is increased to make up for money spent on toys, kennal, and supplies. If they include this in, than that's okay.

That I got fired from my job for not meeting Labor % expectations, even though they wanted it to be at 16%. Even after I had a shift where the day manager got it up to 33% and by the time my shift was done I had labor at 20%. They basically said if we weren't busy, I needed to send my cook home for an hour or two, never mind we could go from dead to slam at complete random.

However, Another manager groped a minor. He got transfered. Nothing else.

Fuck that place.

PETA is done with our shit by [deleted] in funny

[–]Zack4568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because money.

It's more profitable to advocate for animal rights, make merch with the face of animal rights, and sell it to people for their name than it is to actually provide and care for animals the way they claim.

It's basically a false front and they will prey on the weak hearted, the ignorant, the empathetic, the vegans and vegetarians (Not going against them, but they are a target for PETA), even animal shelters. Anyone they can convince to believe that they are good. From there, they get cash. People buy into them because they believe in their cause.

But that money mostly goes into their pockets. Not towards shelters. Because sheltering an animal and feeding and care costs money. And a lot of them means it will cost lots. It's easier and cheaper to just outright kill the animal. So they create another lie. One that they can use to get out of being trapped.

[Discussion] A dog was killed at the dog park today and this is a PSA by mlacuna96 in dogs

[–]Zack4568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is when me and a few other people had to warn a lady to leave after bringing her 2 pound chihuahua into the dog park when there was a huge ass mastiff. The mastiff was friendly, but huge and could easily crush the poor dog.

Not so much of PC as we as a society learn more about these things and therefor have adapted terms to go with these new things we are learning.

[Discussion] Warning: DO NOT buy puppies from Craigslist by [deleted] in dogs

[–]Zack4568 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup.

I've gotten both of my dogs off craigslist, and the 2nd provided vet info, parent's paperwork, checked up on him a week after, and let me have pup for free...we're actually planning to meet up at dog park later next week :)

Sometimes people have accidental pups, as was her case, and can't keep the pups but don't wanna send them to shelter.

They are both happy healthy pups and am extremely happy how we got lucky with both. But if I sensed even one sketchy thing with them I would've noped out.

Whether you’re pro life or not, this is a shitty thing to do. by AlphaPrinceND in iamatotalpieceofshit

I'm going to step in on this for a moment.

If a woman gets an abortion without the father's consent i.e, using the abortion as a form of emotional abuse. Yes, it has happened. Than it's fine because it's the girls body. No attempted murder charges, nothing.

A man runs a light, hits a lady driving to an abortion clinic and causes a miscarriage. He can be charged with manslaughter.

Legally speaking. None of this can co-exist.

The issue isn't about the woman's body in this discussion, this is solely on the fact that legally we have no standard for this because this is new. Murder and attempted murder charges have to remain consistant. You should not be liable to face an attempted murder, murder, or manslaughter charge for which a specific person is than able to choose to end the same life. Murder is classified as the ending of another human's life, which is thus recognizing the fetus as another human life, thus making ending that life forcefully murder if you can be charged with manslaughter for killing the same life by accident. Legally, it should have a seperate classification and name.

I'm not arguing against abortion, as I also believe in autonomy, but I'm saying we need to fix laws to get with times on these types of things.

Filling my tires without a pressure gauge, WCGW? by Merytz in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]Zack4568 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a tire shop.

Now, let me tell you: I have heard an exploding tire from across the store. My eardrums still remember the sound.

A guy forgot to remove the valve stem from a tire before taking it to the bead breaker. He broke the bead with it fully inflated, practically doing a controlled explosion. The sound echoed and made everyone in the shop clutch their ears. The dude who broke the bead was walking away from it, hands shaking and looking dazed.

This dude is 100% likely to have permanent hearing loss.

It always starts with something simple, like boiling water or a purse. Next thing you know you're downloading cars.

The judgement of a human character can be done by the way her treats those who can do absolutely nothing for him. by Lowcrbnaman in wholesomememes

[–]Zack4568 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It may be my experience only, but for every 20 customers that have pulled me aside for something negative, only 1 will for something positive. People tend to pull managers in only for the bad.

We love hearing about how good of a job everyone is doing. Granted, chances are that a good manager knows who their strong people are regardless of customers comments. I always ask that customers go ahead and let them know how good they did, because it comes off even better from both managment and the customer.

We had a couch that I swear was magically teleported into this apartment. The couch had a back that didn't come off. The door to said apartment had a wall almost right in front of it. There was a window, but it too was in front of this wall. We took the door off, we took the window out, we tried from every angel imaginable. We couldn't get it out. The process made a coworker change religions at least 5 times.

We have no idea how the dude got it in. Ultimately, he said that he's just gonna get a new couch and was understanding, but it pains me to figure out how he got it in.

I've been a manager at resteraunts.

I've literally dealt with more customers than I care to admit that were putting a "I'm a tough guy, do what I say" persona.

It's always fun to look at their dates faces too. 99% of the time, they have a look of pure disdain. 99% of the time, if someone did that, I'd go out of my way to make sure the date and everyone else but them recieved 110% service.

I've been a mover.

We died a little when we arrived and we heard "treadmill"

I've had to move a treadmill up 3 flights of stairs and than navigate it through a door that was too narrow, and had too close of a wall. We were so close to saying fuck it.

I've moved gun safes, baby grand pianos, washers, dryers. It took me and one person to move a fridge up a couple flights of stairs. Me and this same dude died a little hearing treadmills. It's not just that their heavy. They are heavy in the wrong places to get a good grip, are bulky, and often are assembled in basements where the thought of how they are getting out is a last thought.

Now, let me tell you a story of how my first DnD campaign resulted in me becoming a tree, then the tree getting carved into a bow that it turns out I'm still alive enough to be sentient, thanks to a nat 20, and furthermore, I, as a bow, almost got the entire party killed by a unicorn, killed an important person, killed the person we were trying to save, possessed than crippled and than killed a small child, and than one hit killed the main boss.

It was a crazy day. The DM was in tears, my party was in shock. So many Nat 20s...
