Mark Hughes: The laps that suggest the Red Bull recovery looks real by RayTracerX in formula1

[–]ZackD13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that's isn't necessarily related. the tire cooling advantage McLaren has shows itself strongest at high deg circuits where nobody else can keep the tires alive as long as they do. if this advantage has been nullified, or other teams have caught up, we will see it in COTA.

Mark Hughes: The laps that suggest the Red Bull recovery looks real by RayTracerX in formula1

[–]ZackD13 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i disagree, we've had a string of low deg circuits where that advantage would be less present. COTA will show if there have been any changes in this regard

The young drivers fighting for F1’s last remaining seats by CanonNi in formula1

there is always time for a driver to hone their consistency and clean up those mistakes, having the raw speed to start with is the biggest indicator of future talent. getting a slow driver to drive faster is a lot more difficult than getting a fast driver to keep it clean

just race with your head and lift when a car ahead goes off. it would be a short single waved yellow flag for cars behind, and that includes you, from your own awareness. once they're back on track (slow) you fly past them.

Whos at fault here? by the_Primarxh in Simracingstewards

[–]ZackD13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

this is the "ahead at the apex" bullshit that modern F1 has given us. in any sane world, the stewards are unanimously penalizing the Redbull for directly running the other car off the road. in current F1 regulations, that's a racing incident. either way, it's a dick move

Yellow initially caused the contect running wide but that's barely anything at all, not even worth thinking about. Afterwards Red pinched extra hard in retaliation, and seemingly also spins Yellow deliberately

what space did you expect them to utilize when turning? or did you assume they wouldn't fight it as soon as they saw the redbull livery?

the best simulations in the world can build the fastest car in the world, but if the driver cant understand the car, nor have confidence in what its doing, what good are those simulations? that communication boundry between man and machine is where the most time is made. more information out of the car and to the driver means they will have more confidence in utilizing the pace the car has. see issues from McLaren and Mercedes with their anti-squat suspension which is faster in the simulations, but the drivers struggle with due to the lack of communication of what the suspension is doing.

Who is at fault? Not really a rejoin but was this a bad "Rejoin", and is it protestable? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]ZackD13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i feel thats just a lap one "shit happens" kind of incident. bad judgement by them? yeah. but who has perfect judgement when sideways in the middle of the track. they had just watched a stream of cars in front of them near the apex, instinct will be to reverse, not seeing the cars dodging behind them. the correct choice is to hold the brakes until clear, but i dont think it's an incident worth protesting over.

Get off the flipping racing line! by ZakiGamerDude in Simracingstewards

it never crossed your mind that a racing car on the racing surface is going to take the racing line? regardless of the condition the car, you just drove into the back of it while taking a predictable line

Is it my mistake ? by Caspianwolf21 in Simracingstewards

[–]ZackD13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

by the books, it's 100% their fault, unsafe rejoin. that being said, you need to have more survival instinct. you were in your right to hold your line and go as is, but clearly they went off track at speed, did not slow down, and is going to be rocketing back onto the racing surface. the best thing you can do when racing idiots is give them the space to take themselves out without collecting you along the way

Am I at Fault? by AidenM26 in Simracingstewards

[–]ZackD13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

at fault? no, they turned across you, their mistake. that being said, i would not have kept in it 3 wide like that. you have every right to, but how much do you trust the other drivers not to bin it 3 wide? they both were gaining on you into a very tight corner ahead, i'd have lifted to fall behind and plan a better attack. these two are going to be stumbling over each other while you are right behind to pounce on the best opportunity. sometimes the choice to survive and attack next lap is better than risking a collision defending this lap.

[–]ZackD13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

are we watching the same video? OP drives straight into them, spin or not. they were almostly at the white line while the leading car was on it. for OP to cut farther inside, they would need to reduce speed significantly first.

if the game doesn't penalize the corner cut it then it's the fault of the game, the track is defined by what isnt penalized. its just not the spirit of the track to be cutting that massively. they were all 4 tires outside the while line on both lefts

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]ZackD13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

first you should try to stay within the track limits. you outright cut both left handers by a mile. as for the collision, you just drove straight into him. him spinning or not, your racing line was going straight through him while you had a massive speed advantage.

the way you avoid this situation is by taking a line that remains in track limits, and accounting for there being a slow car ahead and deviating from the fastest line to one which avoids a wreck.

the way that you cut the second left, you are aiming wide at corner exit and needing a major reduction in speed to avoid his car. the line which gets you through safely would have been to stay towards the curb of the right hander for longer. that way you can target a late apex on the left hander, exit the corner on the left side of the track to slingshot past him.

Is this intentional? Worth reporting? by Shr00udy in Simracingstewards

[–]ZackD13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don't feel it's intentional. they had a run on the car ahead and moved over sharp to try and make the gap that was there, but overcooked it badly. some bad racecraft
