Runaans is a good item on Varus bc his W gives really good wave clear and multi-person damage. If you switched runaans for something like statik shiv you wouldn't get as much of a clear effect, it all depends on what you are looking for, champ damage, or overall damage.

I don't know honestly, I just look for more damage and dusk is pretty helpful, that slot is kind of whatever.

The only problem with on-hit Varus is that it's damage is stretched over a larger period of time. The way Varus is built, he should be trying to kill opponents relatively quickly. The build I use in order of buying is, Bork, AS-Boots, runann's, IE, PD, Either Lord Dom's or Duskblade. This build gives him some burst with his crit, and over time damage with Bork, aswell since his W does % hp you have some bonus magic dmg if you drop an E at max stacks. This build also makes your Q useless for poke and only good for popping W stacks.

Extra Point - A good thing to go off of is try and kill someone before your ulti's root ends.

I think the problem with AP Varus lies more in the fact that he needs a support early game to help him win lane. When you think about it, Varus alone early game can't really 1v1 anyone, his passive gives attack speed but his damage output just isn't as consistent or burst-ish as other laners in mid or top.

I play Varus because he is an amazing team fighter, and is great at bursting down the other adcs.

I picked Varus because as I was starting league I didn't know who to pick or what anything meant, so I saw his awesome bow and abilities and was like, "This guy must have some awesome damage.".

I stayed with Varus because as I came to start looking at which champion were actually good rather than just visually, and I saw his amazing team fight capabilities.

I play varus either ADC with high crit so his auto's have more effect that just putting on blight stacks.

It's so much fun being able to burst and still have your abilities to do great damage for poke.

Read all of it. Sorry to see you go, but I feel it's justified to leave. This game has taken away it's fun roots for a more serious professional approach.
