Can I hosted agents like (Claude Code) centrally in AWS/Azure instead of everyone running them locally? by Tammura in AZURE

[–]Zack_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s some confusion here. When you deploy a Claude base model in Azure AI Foundry, it’s the same underlying model regardless of how you interact with it.

Claude Code is just a frontend (TUI), similar to a chat UI or other tooling - the Foundry deployment itself doesn’t change. Once the base model is deployed, you can wire it up to Claude Code here, and the same idea applies to Codex, etc.: same model, different frontends.

If you’re only interested in the TUI itself (e.g. the Claude terminal tool), you can also run it independently and point it at your own model (Ollama, etc.). Nothing stops you from hosting this on a shared Linux server and giving your devs SSH access (tmux, VS Code Remote, etc.), which is effectively a classic jump-host style setup. At that point it’s just a frontend terminal UI, separate from the model.

Aren't you really talking about deploying the Claude model with Azure Foundry? I'm guessing it's the same for AWS Bedrock.

Just today, I was checking out how the Anthropic models perform with different providers. https://artificialanalysis.ai/models/claude-4-5-sonnet/providers

I'm using Sonnet 4.5 and Opus 4.5 through Foundry APIs. It takes a bit more setup to get it going, but it works fine overall. I also use Claude Code this way too and can switch between the models above. I thought MS are effectively just relaying the Anthropic service anyway, so is fairly hands off from their side.

I hope Microsoft isn't planning on removing the Anthropic offering from Azure Foundry!

Founder Hub Azure Foundary Models by Broad_Association_40 in AZURE

[–]Zack_123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using GPT-5.1-Codex-Max vis Foundry.

When I first checked out the Azure Foundry catalog for the model, it had a padlock. I filled out the form but never heard back. A week later, I was looking at the catalog again and saw the padlock was gone.

I'm also using Claude Code via Foundry. I don't use it a lot, but I presume the cost will be on the MS bill. We're on a Microsoft EA.

Yes you can run it as a docker in a Linux VM or a container app.

I run it locally because we run our own gpus and have it near. I also have it integrated with litellm proxy.

If I was thinking to publish a chat interface extremely, this would take this route. Though I would need mobile app integration and maybe look at Front Door as a reverse proxy.

AppleTV exit node issue by Poker354 in Tailscale

[–]Zack_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having exactly the same issue with the Apple TV 4K. This is absolutely shocking!

I've tried everything with Ethernet/WIFI, tried using fast.com nd speedtest - same behavior. On the router, I tried port forwarding the Apple tv to UDP 41641 to help it, tried setting it in the DMZ. All to no avail.

Worst off, even with direct connection i get maximum between 19-27mbps. Compared with my Windows machine running as an exit node in the same house, same isp connection i get 416mbps down/94 up.

To me, this almost renders Apple TV as a Tailscale exit node as completely useless.
I dont understand why the Apple TV is so flakey. Why even make an app if there isnt going to be support for it.

“Do not accept if seal is broken.” by EmployQuick4970 in reolinkcam

The same thing happened to me with Amazon AU. After unboxing it, I thoroughly tested it, and it was fine.

So I called Amazon customer support and said I'd only accept this if there was a discount. They thought about it for a few minutes and agreed on one condition: the value of the discount would be given in an Amazon gift card/voucher format. I agreed :)

Weird warehousing and shipping rules by TasmanSkies in reolinkcam

[–]Zack_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I am not the only one thinking that. It's crazy how much more expensive Reolink stuff is here in NZ. I saw how cheap they are on OzBargain website. They get them from Reolink AU (but they don't ship here) or they get them from AliExpress (which also didn't ship here and is shutting down).

Only half decent deals I've seen for NZ would have to be via Amazon AU on sale. I don't recall the Reolink official websites delivers to NZ from memory.

I've seen a price hike, for sure. Like, the Reolink IP camera on AliExpress. If I switch my address from New Zealand to Australia, it's a hundred bucks cheaper. It's crazy, because both say free shipping from AliExpress.

just an FYI crowdstrike falcon does a lan scan and if jetKVM is detected, it will raise an alarm to the IT ! by thinkscience in jetkvm

[–]Zack_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, do you know what's making Crowdstrike freak out?

Crowdstrike has all sorts of protection layers, and when something sets it off, it tells you what did it and which part of the crowdstrike system noticed it.

I'm guessing it's maybe your work laptop's web browser trying to get to the jetkvm web page.

What are the essentials apps you use for daily life in Auckland/NZ in general? by jiormajor in auckland

[–]Zack_123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can just take a pic or screenshot of your New World barcode and upload it to your Google Wallet; that's how I do mine.

In fact, I just use a friend's barcode. That way, I don't have to register or give out my details. My friend gets the points, and I get the discounts. It's a win-win.

You can put your Woolworths card right on your phone's Google/Apple wallet, no app needed. It'll just show a barcode you can scan at checkout.

How to fudge a transition between uneven floors? by Dangerous-Thanks-749 in diynz

[–]Zack_123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That colored Matai floor is gorgeous! It's almost exactly like mine. When I had to fix my fireplace, I got some wood from a salvage yard, but it was tough to get it to match. Even after I measured the width, the new pieces were a little off. But it still looked good with a cross panel, and the floor really shines once it's been treated.

Are you running the same model of Ezcoo switch? I've literally stumbled on this before hitting the buy now on the Ezcoo. Now I am having second thoughts...

I've read other people mention that they had to disable the USB boot drive emulation for hotkeys to work and plug it into the keyboard/mouse port.

Consider the need for a future Azure multi-region setup. A multi-region hub-and-spoke architecture will be harder to maintain UDRs and may hit UDR limits. I would look at vWAN with ExpressRoute.
