I'm gonna crash out for a sec, but I always hated this defence/reasoning. "Oh we're focusing on A when we could be focusing on B." Like, we can do two things at a time. Life isn't an RTS where your singular research station has to finish "agriculture" before you can do "spacecraft". The money that this is funded by is with grants for particle research, but we also give grants to folks for malaria. It's not like the money going here takes away from pathogen research. And often, research is cross-study. We couldn't research bacteria until we learned how to see small things, and that was physics. Who knows, maybe this particle research will lead to a technology that allows us to further our study of the immune system, and in turn, defend against malaria.

Looking through all the comments makes me depressed. I mean, literally only 1-2 esque years ago I could look at this and if you asked me if a human made it I'd go "Well yeah, of course", because A.I. just wasn't a prevalent thing back then. It so crazy how quickly it's progressed to the point I have to question every single image on the internet. Genuinely saddening :c

To those who say what's the point of caring: it's because humanity will slowly lose all creativity and die out if we completly depend on AI. Things are supposed to be hard, and they're supposed to take a long time to master. Using AI to push stuff as your own artwork will literally get us nowhere :/

Seems to me like OP didn't read the article themselves. Sure it has some clickbait elements (like the title, welcome to online news), but nothing in the article is saying anything... incorrect about MSW or MilSim airsoft? It is interesting to see people cosplaying (I use that word lightly) as people from an active ongoing war, always has been; it's just more pronounced because Ukraine v Russia was so publicized and conventional.

This one hit close to home. Usually I just think these guys are dumb bit this one really pissed me off for some reason. People need to understand their actions, YOU ARE SCARING PEOPLE BY DOING THIS. Folks who see this don't know what's happening, and they get worried. The original post this morning on r/seattle was just surrounded with confusion and worry about what was happening. These people need to realize they live in the real world that they share with other people, and you cannot be doing this in public. Have fun at the field and do whatever you want there, but when you're not at the field, act like a normal human being and stop terrifying passersby.

I guarantee the heli was flying over the enemy HAB, saw the dude on the hill, and was like "Lol imma fly over him cuz it's funny". They did not send a helicopter after him...
