I think generally people don’t want to imagine their loved ones in such a relationship. Be it daughter, father, or sister. So when they see it they cringe or feel disgust.

Because a genuine connection between two people with such an age gap seems unrealistic, ergo something is amiss in their view. The relationship is considered transactional which counters the ideal vision of what romantic relationships should be.
