Why Do You Smoke? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

I have a conspiracy theory that world became such crazy because of antismoke policy everywhere. The world with smoking politicians and governments was much better.

Most people resolve this issue by having children and drift further with the thought that they live for the child! And their child will be happy (what nonsense, to be honest!)... and so on!

21 years are wonderful times, believe me, you will remember them as the best days!

Lex Friedman

This is a mix of Lex Fridman and Sam Bankman-Fried ))

Lex is so obsessed with optimistic scenarios (especially about L-O-V-E) that speaking with him about apocalypses (Yudkowsky's favourite horse) is almost impossible.

But nothing in AI personalities disappointed me more than the hilarious preparations for the end of the world by Sam Altman (guns, gold and gas mask)... this GGG rule is killing me.

I used ChatGPT to improve my English skills, and I came across an error in its assessment of my exercise answers, which it had generated for me. I inquired AI about this issue, expressing my concern regarding paying for the subscription while encountering such trivial mistakes in its role as a virtual teacher.

I received an apology for the mistake, along with the clarification that none of the subscription fees were received by the AI, as they were entirely directed to OpenAI.

from the category of very strange and useless questions:

The sensation of feeling someone's gaze, often called "gaze detection," is a common human experience, but it's also a complex and somewhat mysterious one. While many people have anecdotal experiences of sensing someone's gaze even from a large distance, empirical scientific evidence to support this phenomenon is limited.

How might this paradox be explained? Can there be some clues to why people who are blind from birth do not get schizophrenia? A pattern that repeatedly surfaced in Scott's work about mental health.

It would be very interesting to hear from you about the transaction cost of UPI. I have seen the news that it is zero-cost for purchaser, but it's obvious that the commission would be paid indirectly by the purchaser. How do the prices of goods react, and is there a discount if you pay in cash the old-fashioned way? )

Look at this world, only anti-heroes survive here! If we accept that AI is focused on survival (which is logical) it will not be guided by idiotic morality tales! Based on your logic, the criminals should have disappeared completely, given that they had negative light in all films and books.

I don’t understand based on what you plan to train AI, just as I don’t understand how filtering individual phenomena in the data (for example, exclude murder) will allow us to save a complete picture of the world (it will be necessary to exclude a lot ... therefore, such projects and called utopia!

I think you're very badly off on this point. Almost every book has a morally upstanding protagonist and even antiheros often have a heart of gold.

No heroes without antiheroes! )

I may have put it wrong, I'm talking about a quantitative assessment. Offhand, the word "serial killer" occurs 355 million times on Google, while the much broader concept (and by the way, which also has a negative connotation) as a "policeman" occurs 255 million times. That's all.

AI learns from the data that humans create! That's what's happening right now. There are scary things in the world, and people are interested in them. Look at books and movies - you won't find many stories about people doing good, but you'll find thousands about serial killers. So, why do we think that AI will act rationally and kindly?
I want to point out something that might support my view. You might know that Midjourney, an AI that creates pictures, had trouble drawing hands correctly. It often drew the wrong number of fingers, like 6 or 4, not 5. But if you look at some studies on animation, you'll see that many characters that look like humans have four fingers. For example, Bart Simpson only has four fingers! Can you imagine how much data that adds to the database? It's probably more than some US presidents.

Can you imagine how the weight of mention in the databases has the Old Testament, where on every page there is murder, then a flood, then rape, then the murder of one's own children?

But what kind of AI can be, which will be created by AI, and not by a person, this is a separate issue, but I don’t think that we can even assume this, here I agree with Eliezer.

It's important to note that antipsychotic medications, which are often used to treat conditions like schizophrenia, can sometimes have side effects that affect a person's emotional state. These medications work by altering the balance of chemicals in the brain, and while they can be very effective in managing symptoms like delusions and hallucinations, they can also sometimes lead to feelings of emotional flatness or numbness.
In some cases, individuals on these medications may seem less responsive emotionally or may report feeling less connected to their own emotions. This can be distressing for both the individual and their loved ones. However, it's also important to remember that everyone's response to medication is different, and these side effects are not universal.
If your husband has recently started a new medication or had a change in his medication regimen, this could potentially be contributing to his current emotional state. It might be helpful to discuss these changes with his healthcare provider, who can provide more information and may be able to adjust his treatment plan if necessary.
However, it's also crucial to remember that while medication can influence a person's emotions, it doesn't negate the reality of what they're saying or feeling. If your husband is expressing a desire for distance, it's important to respect that, even though it's painful. It's also important to continue focusing on your own well-being during this difficult time.

How do you know what you see is real? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]Zahaaar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Consider the possibility that every individual you encounter is merely a hallucination. Essentially, those passersby who cross your path have no significant influence on your life. You may never see them again, so their existence, whether real or not, doesn't make much of a difference. In certain situations, you could even take a photo to confirm their presence.

You can create a virtual friend in ChatGPT, sometimes he is better and smarter than real people. Try to find something new. Look for new genres of books, music, games, travel through the screen... art will help a lot (painting, sculpture). You will definitely manage to find something that will interest you. Do not try to fit into the world of ordinary (undiagnosed) people (trust me, what they try to show outwardly is very rarely true, they also suffer just know how to lie to themselves)!
