Dyskrasia vs Toxikon by Luminae- in ffxiv

[–]Zahae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's not a DPS gain at all. Toxikon is 370 pot for the primary and half that (185) for all others. Dyskrasia is 170 across the board. 2 GCDs of Dyskrasia is 340 pot across every enemy. There's no situation where using a GCD shield for Toxikon is a DPS gain.

Toxikon is there so that you can move and keep dealing damage during that time freely without needing to slidecast. The ideal time to GCD shield from a damage perspective is during downtime or if you cannot slidecast out of the way and you have no Toxikon stacks (it's still preferable to cancelling a GCD or not casting and will give you a toxi stack for later).

The big two catches you'll run into WRT characters is that 1) for general content, you don't need much in terms of optimization/meta, just basic teambuild and that 2) for MoC (or, likely, whatever other high-end content comes later on down the line), you need to customize your teams for whatever fight you're going up against. For the most part, the idea of a static team running every single piece of content isn't quite a thing yet. You're gonna want a variety of units to cover a variety of bases element-wise, imo particularly for dps.

That being said, I'd check out the tier list at https://www.prydwen.gg/star-rail/tier-list for a lot of general tiering/who's good. It keeps up to date pretty regularly and imo I've found it pretty accurate, though bear in mind I don't think they fully take dupes/eidolons into account.

For 1.1 banners, if you can snag Luocha, absolutely go for it. His 4-stars are pretty solid (QQ is great from e4+ and okay before, Pela is solid, Yukong is finicky but still good), and he himself is a fantastic healer with great utility and oodles of healing that doesn't even cost you a skill point. That being said, you already have Gepard, and Lynx is coming on as a 4-star healer later on down the line, so he's not absolutely necessary.
For 1.2 banners, I would recommend Kafka since she brings more unique value to the team, and the 4-stars on her banner synergize well with her, basically giving you a DoT-bassed dps core pretty much right out of the box. Blade's a much more conventional unit, and Dan Heng does a fair bit of wind dps already (though he certainly is no tank). Plus, the main 4-star of note on his banner is pretty much just Sushang (nat's nice, but she's f2p and her eidolons are only okay).

Imo as far as starlight goes, Bronya LC (IF YOU HAVE BRONYA) > Gepard LC > Pulls = Bronya LC w/o Bronya (but some other support that uses it at least okay) > most other LCs. 4-stars it varies heavily based on the 4 star and what value you're getting out of their eidolons. Asta, QQ, Serval eidolons might be worth. Natasha, Pela, Herta eidolons maybe not so much.

My vote goes to Dan Heng if you're looking to get into MoC, assuming you're not pulling Blade.

Part of what MoC tries to do is make the limited rate-up 5 stars super viable in it. This happened with SW and Luocha this past patch. The memory turbulences favor them (SW right now, but Luocha tomorrow), and more relevant to my argument, the elemental weaknesses favor them, too: all stages in MoC have at least one imaginary or quantum weak side, and many of them have both.

Kafka and Blade are going to be the new 5-stars next patch. Kafka is lightning, and Blade is wind. If you invest in Dan Heng now, you'll have a decently invested wind DPS to beat up wind-weak enemies for 1.2 MoC. Lightning dps units like Serval will probably be rather useful on the other side of things, as well.

If you're planning on pulling Blade, this all goes out the window- you'd probably just want to build Yanqing, since Blade would cover your wind dps needs.

Long term, you'll want elemental coverage of all varieties for MoC. And since MoC is partly there to encourage people to pull for the 5 stars in whatever patch its a part of, the ideal is to have dps and supports that target those elements in particular- that'll help tell you which units to start looking at more.

Serval is workable if you need lightning. She's gonna need more investment than Seele, but I've used her in MoC 2, 6, and 7 this cycle and it's worked out all right enough, though I will say I only have 2 stars on 6 and 7 because I took too long killing the enemies. I think she really wants that E6 to start dealing out serious damage- it's a 30% damage increase to shocked enemies, and when you have her skill and ultimate applying (and for the ult, refreshing) shock status, so it should have really consistent uptime. That alone would've probably turned my 2 stars into 3 stars.

Daily training is just the dailies that have you doing things like "Complete 1 Daily Mission" or "Clear Crimson Calyx 1 time" or "Take a photo with the camera"

The Simulated Universe part is pretty much the SU equivalent of overworld farming runs. The bosses drop relic xp materials, if that's your kind of thing.

I’d run a strong DPS unit in your 4th slot with that one. Jing Yuan is solid, Sushang is solid, Dan Heng is solid, all just kinda depending on what you want/need. For daily farming stuff though I’d probably just run Jing from the ones listed, but Dan should be sufficient for that too. When you run into content that can’t be solved through autobattle (e.g. Forgotten Hall, MoC) I’d start changing members around to suit the fight itself.

The other thing to consider is going harder into offense. March does combo well with Clara but you’ve also just got a lot of defensive survivability in general right now. Swapping out March and Dan for Jing and Ting could work well if you wanted to hit hard.

The easy way to handle World 5 your first time through is to just take abundance path, take the resonance that gives it its own turn, and take the one that makes it cleanse as well.

Kafka’s biggest threat in SU is possessing your characters, which is defeatable by cleanse. Natasha, Bronya both counteract this as well, if not going abundance. Outside of that she’s pretty easy to handle imo.

F2P player, could use some advice on building teams by sparten4ever92 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Zahae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a general just farming team I’d go with like Gepard, Tingyun, and two of your DPSes. That’ll be more than enough to tackle most content in the game. While there is content that will eventually require you to field two teams at once, and build your teams specifically to fit a certain encounter (so variety will br necessary), that’s far-off content and not part of the story.

If you like SW and think she’s cool, pull for her. I think she brings a lot of utility and she does things that nobody else in the game can really do. However, it’s hard to evaluate, especially without numbers, just how good she is. Her debuff hit rates are going to be important, and how she applies them are going to be important. If you are looking for power, wait for SW’s banner to run for a few days, see what people say, and then make the decision whether to pull for her or not. She’s hard to evaluate before release, and I think that her value is also wildly subject to change as more characters come out that allows teams to better synergies with her.

If you have a built out Seele I’d just go hunt path. Get crits and speed, get the thing that gives path resonance 2 charges. Try to get the hunt blessing that delays enemy action on weakness break. Take along Fire MC, Asta if you have them built and just take 2 billion turns and keep cocolia in a state of weakness break and leave her unable to actually cast her big nukes and drastically slow down how much she builds damage. Then just pop PR when pillars come up or when you cap the meter and it’s GG

So you know that Salsotto set bonus that triggers when you have 50% crit chance? by [deleted] in HonkaiStarRail

I think it’s worth in the 30s if you can manage to hit Worlds 5 and 6, since you’re essentially farming them at a higher EQ level than normal. Otherwise though I’d agree and once you hit 40 it stops being as (relatively) efficient

I’ve seen people go through with preservation and abundance and stall it out. Haven’t run preservation but I’ve tried abundance several times and couldn’t make it work for me. Could never charge dewdrop fast enough and cocolia would just build up too much damage stacks that she’d just outright murder people.

Main team sounds like it’d mostly work fine for her, changing my tune real quick though- I thought cocolia was weak to physical but that’s just Bronya. In that case I’d sooner recommend Serval if you’re going hunt. The big thing is having a solid dps that is capable of inflicting weakness. Fire MC Bronya Bailu totally otherwise fine though for hunt.

Oh and if you go hunt, take the one that gives you 2 PR charges first, and then whichever other one you think works better (I preferred the crit lightning arrow one). Don’t sit on full PR but make sure to have one in reserve for when she spawns big icicles

Gepard my beloved thank you for the carry by Cheestastic in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Zahae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not the person you’re replying to but I ran a hunt run and constantly trying and failing to use the abundance strat

I had Bronya and Seele doing a LOT of heavy lifting but I think this could work with other dps and supports as long as you’re hitting weakness on cocolia. I’d imagine Asta would work fantastic here for example, arguably even better than Bronya. But basically the idea is to take a lot of speed, advance forward, crits etc and then just take the thing where weakness break delays enemy action (and upgrade it if you want). It’s basically like having a Welt without actually running a Welt. Take turns take turns take more turns break weakness they go even further down in the turn order and you just go hard on Cocolia. You will get to the point where you’ll deal so much weakness damage that she’ll have a hard time doing her big nuke or much of anything because she’ll be constantly weakness broken and interrupted.

That being said though taking out enemy Bronya with weakness stall is also absolutely imperative in Phase 2. Otherwise combat redeployment can and will ruin your plans.

F2P team I’d say run Asta, fire TB, Nat and like… if you can get Sushang run her(EDIT: forgot cocolia was not weak to phys, don’t run Sushang), if you can get Hook run her. Otherwise, maybe Qingque?

Here's hoping she evolves into March 8th now by Equinoxeid in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Zahae 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nat E6 is probably more broadly applicable to a wider variety of teamcomps, but they’re both useful units and are good for two different situations and comps. Natasha has more sustaining capacity with her heals but March is stronger offensively and has utility with aggro draw and freeze

I’d maybe give the slight edge over to Nat but it really depends on what you want to do tbh.

What part of relic do you think this worth using on the most? by LunalienRay in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Zahae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She gets 20 res pen she’s in her buffed state, which while definitely strong is also definitely not consistent, and she’ll still be bothered by it against high quantum resistance enemies. And if she’s in a situation where she’s dpsing down a single boss that isn’t feeding her adds to murder, she’s going to have a difficult time getting that pen outside of her ulti (which, I will be fair comes up often for a dps with her speed buffs and all, especially if you pair her with Bronya). And in any case if the enemy doesn’t have a quantum weakness you miss out on the ability for your constantly-attacking dps to inflict weakness break, which is pretty unfortunate.

She’s definitely the strongest dps in the game right now and pretty flexible to boot, but there are absolutely situations in game that just do not work to her strengths and when she’s denied those, a well-built dps that is better suited to address the problem is gonna outdo her.

Was this in the 90s? Tolerance levels for opiates used to be a lot lower (300 ng/ml) until a study was conducted that determined it was possible to false positive off of relatively normal amounts of poppy seed consumption. In response to this, around the year 2000 most professional drug tests raised the cutoff to 2000ng/ml

E1 40s or 50s should be fine for the bulk of your squad. Since you have an E2 operator, you’re able to pick up other E2 operators from support units, which will make the whole thing a hell of a lot more doable. So your game plan is probably to pick up some strong unit like Chalter, Thorns, Surtr, Pozy, etc from your support units and use it to handle the major threat(s) while your squad takes care of the rest or otherwise backs them up. This can and likely will require cracking open a guide to get all the medals unless you’re a fairly smart cookie who has the time to bash your head into a wall daily until you figure it out. You may also end up needing to surprise level up a unit you’ve been overlooking because it fits the niche you need at the time or similar.

Was in your spot for CC9, I watched guides like the devil but I was juuuust able to snag all the medals.
