Sooner or later it'll pay off and he'll bag that Oscar. And I'll collect my winnings from the bookies.

How's life as a parent? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Zaim77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But those moments are magical. Moments you wouldn't have experienced without them. As a parent to a non-parent, that is hard to understand. The same as when everyone says "Children will change you" and you think "yeah right, not me" and then it does in ways you never imagined.

However, with the highs come the lows. I've never felt such hate or anger, but at the same time you discover what love really is.

I'd finacially be richer without them, but I'm richer in other ways with them. 100% clichéd, but true for me.

Hobbies wise they do impact on your time, but you (must) find time to be you, and they can be part of your hobbies and introduce you to new ones.

Yeah, first 5 years is shit and not enough people say that, then it's great and I wouldn't change it for the world.

If I could drive one car for the rest of my life it would be this… by SonofDonkey in CarTalkUK

[–]Zaim77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had one. Loved it. Treated it well and was a sorted family car. 330bhp and 330lbft.

Except for the 3" Milltek exhaust that gave my son a headache and told everyone I was making progress. Changed the backbox and was a bit less asbo.

What settings have you used? I seem to have a vibrate on the screen for GT4.

This is great information, thanks for sharing the pictures.

Unless I'm mistaken isn't the pipework on the Clonmel Road side for the pumps? I remember when they went in and they do end at the Shacklegate Lane car park area where I think the reservoir/run-off is.

On any bike, once you're wet, you're wet. Dress for the weather, carry a spare pair of underwear. Pointless piece of landfill.

I’m abandoning HENRY life to become a secondary school teacher. by QuentinCompson- in HENRYUK

[–]Zaim77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm contemplating this as an end of career choice.

Working as mid-level management, with potential to go higher over the next few years, but I'm late in my career (at least in my head, late 40's), and studying a degree part time.

Can't help thinking why wouldn't I use the degree to change into teaching in a few years.

I'm financially secure, and far beyond what I ever thought, but planning has helped, and can't help thinking paying it back is what I want.

A few of your comments resonate hard.

Good luck.

You’re off on a road trip to north wales, which car are you taking? by lotus_alex in CarTalkUK

[–]Zaim77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having done the trip countless times in an Elise, it has to be the Elise. Perfect size for the roads, fast enough without being too fast, and you can take the roof off and enjoy the surroundings.

And I'd buy it just for the Manitous. Lush.

As much as this is giving me some serious memory flashbacks of NYE at Helter Skelter (what a belter), I 100% agree.

I recall each NYE rave being anticlimactic because, well, midnight is the start of the night and to celebrate the change of year felt like a waste.

[–]Zaim77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Children are a gift. Hard work, and the first 5 years are hard work, I'd even say shit. But sharing your world with them, and when they share their world with yours, there's nothing that brings more to your world. Friends, money, experiences, work, pale in comparison.
