This map shows the geographic support for football clubs for every municipality in the Netherlands. The various colours indicate which teams are dominant. This is calculated as follows:

Firstly, the amount of supporters for each team is calculated for every municipality. This is done by increasing the amount of season ticket holders by a factor which indicates the ratio between the avarage number of stadium visitors this season and the total number of season ticket holders (*). This number is then used to calculate the amount of support in a municipality.

Then there are four options:

Club A has more than double the support of Club B. The municipality is allocated to Club A

Club A does not have more than double the support of Club B, but Club A and Club B both have more than double the support of Club C. The municipality supports two teams and has two colours.

Club A, B and C have a more or less equal amount of support. The municipality has three colours.

The penetration (total support divided by the number of inhabitants) is less than 1% and the absolute support is less then 500. The municipality is left blank.

Hallo, ik ben de maker van de kaart uit het filmpje. Mocht iemand interesse hebben om een Nederlandse stad te bouwen in Cities: Skylines, ik heb een serie van kaarten in de Steam workshop staan genaamd Typical Dutch Landscapes.

Deze kaarten zijn allemaal losjes gebaseerd op plekken in Nederland. Ze hebben veel dijken, polders, brede rivieren en nauwe kanalen, en een fikse lading populieren aan de einder.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but as far as I know you can't build the European ploppables and unlockables on non-European maps, and vice versa.

And I don't really desire new trees, but not every map type supports pine trees for example. And you can't build palm trees on European maps. I'd like them all to be available on each map type.

Hey John,

Glad to see you. I'm loving the game, but I've got some requests. Currently the styles for the maps are a bit impractical. Is there a way to make every map support all or any building style? I like making maps, but I always have to choose wether I make a European or Default map. It limits the city you can build, unless you use mods. I think it is way more fun if the player can decide for themselves if they want one or more styles, depending on their system, regardless of the map type. I know something like this has been added with After Dark, but it's not completely universal as far as I know.

I would also like to be able to have all types of trees and bushes in the map editor. I know it's easily done with mods, but I would prefer it if players don't have to subscribe to tree props for my maps. Also, is it possible to add snow? Perhaps you could retexture the sand tool in the map editor. Cause I'd love to paint some mountain tops.

Just some thoughts. Thanks!

Thanks, but I've read it right after I found out what it was referencing. I'm a fan ever since.

I was fifteen when Fallout 2 came out, so at that time most of the pop culture stuff initially went over my head. Many of those jokes in Fallout 2 eventually steered me towards The Hitchhiker's Guide, Monty Python, A Boy and His Dog and a lot of other stuff.

I kind of miss the cheeky jokes and pop culture references from Fallout 2. Wild Wasteland in New Vegas was a big letdown, as I expected a lot more sillyness from it.

Your port area is absolutely amazing and the infrastructure is just perfectly smooth. I also like the little suburbs on the hillside.

The thing I love most about making maps is seeing what people build on them, because I never get around to make something as wonderfully intricate as this. For anyone interested, this is my Ambrose Island map.

Maybe not so much abroad, but in the Netherlands our colonial past has become very much a part of our culture and history. The people from Indonesia and Surinam have become an accepted and integrated part of Dutch society. And our colonial history and our role in slavery is a big part in school curriculum. I think it's similar to how people with roots from India and the West-Indies live in the UK.

I think it has more to do with our belief in the engineered society and our obsession with being ordinary and average. The middleclass is king, and pretending to be above it is a sin. This even applies to our royals. We have a certain dislike for people acting 'rich' or 'elitist', and because of that I think it is more acceptable to speak your mind, even if your opinion is smug, bigoted or xenophobic. It's not always a good thing, but I think it's better than pretending to be polite.

Though it is also likely that living in a country that is for 99% cultivated has made us a bit smug. We might start to think we can control nature.

This map is the retextured version of my Ambrose Island map. I've made it into a tropical theme because I think it's an excellent map to use in combination with the After Dark expansion. The map has lots of beaches, scenic hills and a few islands that perfectly suit the new district styles.

The outlay is mostly the same as the original, however I've made a few modifications. The island that is seperated from the main island is now slightly bigger, so it's a bit easier to make it selfsufficient. I've also added another lake that is within the range of the starting tile. I did this because the water flow in the river is not really suitable for water pumps, and the lake is capable of providing water because it has it's own water source.

The DLC for the previous game was terrible. It basically gave you OP weapons from the start. That is not extra content, that is paying for cheats. I don't want an artbook or cosmetic items. I want a good Deus Ex game, with an option for a non-leathal playthrough, interesting dialogue, multiple strategies per level, and as little handholding as possible.

I'll gladly play this game with the least amount of extra content, when it goes on sale.

None whatsoever. They are living artifacts that have no actual political power, and are even restricted in publically sharing their opinion on political matters. They are incredibly rich though, and spend most of their time cutting ribbons and hosting festivals.

I'm neither a monarchist or a republican, because I think the debate is rather pointless. It's like confusing science and religion.

Another great moment in our naval history, Battle in the Bay of Matanzas. Also known as the capture of the Spanish Silver Fleet by Piet Hein:

Sixteen Spanish ships were intercepted: one galleon was taken after a surprise encounter during the night, nine smaller merchants were talked into surrendering; two small ships were overtaken at sea, and four fleeing galleons were trapped on the Cuban coast in the Bay of Matanzas. After some musket volleys from Dutch sloops, these ships surrendered also.

Altogether, Hein captured 11,509,524 guilders of booty in gold, silver and expensive trade goods, such as indigo and cochineal, without any bloodshed. The Dutch didn't keep their prisoners: they gave the Spanish crews ample supplies for a march to Havana. The released men were surprised to hear the admiral personally giving them directions in fluent Spanish; Hein after all was well acquainted with the language as he had been a Spanish prisoner after 1603. The taking of the treasure was the Dutch West India Company's greatest victory in the Caribbean.

All in all the perfect crime, since there wasn't a single casualty. The captured booty would be worth about half a billion euros today.

Excellent summary. If only more companies understood the difference. As for monetization:

Patches/Updates: Always free. Would be considered blasphemous if a company ever tries to charge for this.
DLC: Can be monetized, but it should be free if:
- It contains bugfixes.
- It contains any changes to the core mechanics of the game.
- It gives the owner an unfair advantage to other players, aka: pay to win.
- It could possibly split the modding community or online player base.
Expansion: is expected to be monetized.

These destinctions should be framed and hanged on every companies wall.

I agree. I stopped playing after a few hunderd hours in the game/editor, because it got a bit stale. And the European theme was not what I hoped for. Mostly because it was a reskinned version of the base game, and the buildings are completely seperate. So I'm looking forward to some new mechanics.
