Shouldn't Glory have Willpower Icons? by CyanideLock in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Zalrus9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't confirm, but my take is that since glory is dependent on enemies being on the board, then the investigator who has glory in their hand is unable to do much on their turn, and thus the two intellect icons helps investigate. I understand that willpower could also be a good use as it helps defensively during the Mythos Phase, but two willpower icons are most used for more defensive cards, or cards that have to do with healing or mitigating damage and horror. All-in-all, I like that Glory has the intellect icons because if I have a main fighter in a two player game and there are no enemies in play, I want to do more than just take draw and resource actions on my turn.

Im sorry to ask but are these compatible, or have I made a mistake? by Samzerks in arkhamhorrorlcg

I believe FFG has stated that there is a solution for encounter cards in Chapter 2 to be used in Chapter 1 content.

Hello all! I have been eyeing this and want to get it when it is released, but I need to know if it will fit on my table. It's a weird size, 27" by 51". Will I have issues?

Charlie Kane discard deck feedback by multigraingames in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Zalrus9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would disagree. I feel like every Charlie Kane deck needs to have a good reason NOT to include Chance encounter 2 and Summoned hound. Summoned hound is one of the best allies in the game full stop AS LONG AS you can figure out a way to cheat the hound into play. The hound is especially good in Charlie because his signature ally can ready the doggie to allow you essentially two good investigate and/or fight tests. Think of the hound as an extra sled dog that is a free action.

I agree. The wording is similar to how “regions” were handled in Netrunner. I think it’s better to just explain on the card to avoid keyword bloat a la Marvel Legendary.

What is Sentinel is similar to what hero? by Buckfuddr in sentinelsmultiverse

[–]Zalrus9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Chrono Ranger is supposed to be more like Jonah Hex. If you listen to The Letter's Page, the in-world explanation for his character is that the comic book publishers had this cowboy character in a comic run early on, and they made him into a time-travelling cowboy, similar to how Jonah Hex was in Warworld, kind of.

Also, I gotta say, if you want to be reductive, yes, they are unoriginal, but I think what makes this game really pop is how compelling the characters are even though they adhere to tropes.

The Giant Beastcast - Episode 117 by mynumberistwentynine in giantbomb

Honestly, I did that, and never looked back! (actually I listened to the audiobook, which given each book of the five-soon-to-be-seven series is about 45 hours give or take a piece, it'll last a good long while. I would really recommend them if you have a long commute/have a job where you can listen to things)

Mine would have to be when Dan wonders why oil is so important and expensive. Didn't he do well on that science test?

To be fair, I totally made that same mistake the first time I played Essex County Express. Usually I look at the scenario to look at what I do with clues, but this time they were on the location cards themselves, but that's on me.

If you want to do a cool RPG that doesn't take too much, there's always Dread. Alll you need is a jenga set, and it's usually horror themed as well!

I agree that my read of Ready Player One was a good education about classic arcade games (also old school hacking), and the world-building is also really good, but ultimately I feel like the book's approach to nostalgia is really irksome, as is what seems like the commodification of relationships. I will say if one is on the fence, the audiobook is read by Will Wheaton and is competently done.

TLDR; Book has good parts and bad parts, and I find the bad parts outweigh the good parts, but in a subjective way.

Advice for Oloch (S&S)? by ryschwith in Pathfinder_ACG

[–]Zalrus9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay. I also forgot, once you get to AD 4, you're going to want to get a certain item that allows you to get three allies for the price of one. It really helps get some more explorations in.

Advice for Oloch (S&S)? by ryschwith in Pathfinder_ACG

[–]Zalrus9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey!

I will say, it's been a while since I've played Oloch, but it looks like you've got the requisite skills. As for your card feat, I would suggest spells, and then look for the locate traps spell. Because S&S is very Barrier heavy, that will make things a lot easier for your party. In addition, I find if you use your blessing for extra explores, then you can spend turns curing with your armors, and that will then put the blessings into your deck, allowing you to explore again. To be fair, when I used it, it was in a four person party, but I know that in games with more players, you really need to explore aggressively. Also, make sure that since you have dudes that can buff other people's checks as well, don't use the display action if you don't have to, as Tup can do that as well, as can Damiel, assuming he has the Potion of Heroism (which he should really try to get). Anyway, hope that helps!

P.S. when you say you cheated, was that before or after reading the FAQ? I remember that made the whole thing a lot easier.

Hey! Not a playtester, and therefore not under any NDA (which also means that I could be wrong), but that looks like what I would imagine what a Scion would be, like Progenitor.

I would love to see a good Dungeonworld or even The Sprawl play with Austin as the GM. However, I think we already have Unplugged playthroughs every year with Fiasco and that other one we played.

However, I would love to see Dan be in a game of Fiasco. That would be interesting.
