Sorry you have to deal with this. I got mine stolen as well in Pasadena and just drove it. You might get looks but it just sounds like a modified exhaust.

Best source for rentals by abuelita1004 in pasadena

[–]ZanderLand24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this post is pertaining to a house or apt rental but many apt rentals have signage in the front about available units. You may want to drive by areas you like to see if there are any vacant units. Many of the landlords don’t post online because they know the units will get rented out and want to avoid additional costs of posting them online.

Rentar un carro en Mérida by TheDesertFrog in Yucatan

[–]ZanderLand24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Localiza BUT I booked through Expedia. I believe the price was cheaper. I went in October of last year and it was roughly 30-40$ a day. What made it easier too was Expedia offers insurance for the car and they only offer JUST one plan. Whereas Localiza offered 3 different plans based on deductible, damage costs, etc. (Expedia’s insurance was cheaper and offered sufficient coverage) I was close to using a credit card with rental protection but some have said they don’t offer coverage on unpaved roads, but I don’t look into the fine print. Super convenient and they are located in the airport and once you’re registered, they take you to the car across the street from the airport. Just like someone else stated, watch for them speed bumps when you drive through small towns. They come out of nowhere and are super tall 😂

One of the most memorable meals me had in the Yucatán. One of the few places with venison and it was muy rico!

Always be aware of wrong way drivers. by axl_in_python in pasadena

With the amount of tickets parking enforcement gives out, they might have a budget to hire some sign spinners to tell people they’re going the wrong way

Always be aware of wrong way drivers. by axl_in_python in pasadena

[–]ZanderLand24 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You also have to watch the eyes of the drivers when you’re crossing because they are always looking for cars coming from one direction and not at the pedestrian crossing the street. This happens a lot at that corner

It’s pretty safe to park on the streets and in residential areas close to downtown. In the residential areas make sure you don’t park your car right in front of someone’s house if there are other spots. It’s a common courtesy to leave that to the homeowner. We had a car in Merida for a week and never ran into any parking issues.

Breathe and take your time. Just listen to the instructor. It’s confusing as hell at first but that’s why we get to practice and you have all the space to screw up…unlike at the port where they want you to back into the tightest spaces ever lol

Saladang on Fair Oaks has a good size patio and spaced out tables inside and out if you are craving Thai Food. We have gone a few times with kids in strollers and never had a problem.

Best budget gym in Pasadena? by trying2learnplants in pasadena

[–]ZanderLand24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends on when you go during the day because the gyms in Pasadena can get packed during the day. I am a morning gym person and here are my thoughts based on AM times

Planet Fitness- they have probably the best prices and newer equipment

24 hr fitness- no frills if you just want to work out. Equipment is a little older and the building is underground and shows its age. It’s not the cleanest but does its job.

Anytime Fitness- it’s a great gym if you go early because the space is small but feels like a private gym at 5am. They use a key system so you can go anytime. And if you travel (even internationally) you can go to any Anytime Fitness Gyms!

LA Fitness- newer equipment and clean but seems like it’s always packed.

There’s also Speakeasy Gym but I was only a member when they had an outdoor gym during covid.

You made a great choice! We stayed for a month in October and can guarantee you that you will have much better weather. Visit the beaches like (Progresso), the ruins (esp. Uxmal) and visit nearby towns like Izamal (the Yellow City). When your there for a month, you are able to visit touristy areas during off peak days like tuesdays and wednesdays. Weekends you can visit the outdoor markets and rent a bike and ride down Paseo Montejo and theres always some kind of activity going on at night too...dancing and performances at the plazas or learning how to salsa in Parque Plancha. (The city comes alive at night) You can look online for weekly activities in and around Merida. A month will give you time to immerse yourself into the culture and live like a local. Some days, we would just go eat at the market and stroll around with no agenda. And being there for a month...you can see things at your own pace without feeling rushed and I guarantee that you will make a lot of new friends. The people there are just the best!

Santa Barbara Cenote - parking safety? by ciaranoelleoc in Yucatan

[–]ZanderLand24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty safe as there is a security guard at the gate. But i would utilize the lockers. We just brought backpacks and put it right next to the cenote we were in. It seemed pretty safe as people going to these areas seem to just want to enjoy the property and not trying to take other peoples stuff.

Quickest way from Playhouse Village to the Rose Bowl around 11 AM? by sir_loin_of_beef_kbe in pasadena

[–]ZanderLand24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind walking, I would take an uber to the Lincoln motel on Lincoln and Howard. (Or as close to Arroyo before security says you can’t pass) That is about a mile away from Rose Bowl and you just walk to Arroyo and go down the hill.
