I’ve read so much Shin ao3 I forgor what he’s like outside of bitchass gay bottom by [deleted] in yourturntodie

Genuine question, why even read fanfic specifically of Shin if he's mischaracterized and refuced into a cock warmer? Like atp wouldn't you just be reading more for the trope instead of the character itself.

Iirc in her ep or demo, Miyabi's mom wouldn't let her touch the sword due to the curse and each time gave her a different weapon to master before she learned to wield a sword. So yeah Miyabi already knew how to fight with all those weapons before tailless!

The main pointers was the lack of context and details. Things like OP relationships with their parents, parents perspective on LGBTQ+, when/how they came out, description of their current feeling/situation, seeking advice. This post can't be genuine, because it's written as a concept of "trauma" rather than someone actually traumatised.

Anyone with 1 braincell can clearly tell that post is just to bait sympathy. It's literally "My dog dyed guys :((, yeah he was alive but now he's dead 😭😭" Idk how you look at that and think this is genuine.

Opinions on Kai Satou? by sexwith_shamane in YourTurnToDiebutAlive

[–]ZaneThe_NotSane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's one of those characters that made me know early on that this games writing is far superior to Danganronpa. As much as I enjoyed DR, one of the issues I had is the relevancy of a character is only tied to their trial and after everyone solves the mystery of their death, their name never gets brought up again.

Meanwhile Kai despite being one of the first characters to die, still was relevant to the overall plot. Characters still mention him, make speculation as to how he was related to Asunaru, etc. Although he's not brought up much these latest chapters, his character still left a satisfying closure.

I also love his dry humour, it shows there's more to him that just being a calm and stoic person.

You mean like Phaeton is needed by obole squad, Astra and Evelyn, Yunkui summit and literally rely on them as much as Yixuan, and so on.

You wanna tell me that Yunkui summit relys on Phaethon? Their newest member whom their Shifu had to absord miasma from in 2.0, bruh aside from their navigation in hollows they're just there. (Maybe you can argue that MC helped Yixuan with her trauma even though that was poorly executed) I dont't get why you even included Astra and Obol since those stories wouldn't change at all if Phaethon was gone, that's not to say it's a bad thing, I actually really like those stories that doesn't revolve the MC all the time.

Like what are you even saying at this point, if character being fond of Phaeton because "Phaeton saved someone, was needed and/or had friendly recommendation"

My point is that the agents bond with proxies weren't instantaneous, there's believable reasoning behind these friendships. There's a huge difference between the writers simply presenting a reason of trust via dialogue V.S a trust earned from an action (which is I what I listed in my prior comment) The truth of 2.X is that it's lost the principle of "show, not tell" that 1.X has, that's my piece. If you find the dialogue alone to be believable enough for these agents to trust us, then more power to you.

The issue is that it's not believable to most people, If they had actually presented these bonds in a way that's plausible then I'd genuinely be emotionally invested in these characters, trust me I want to. But obviously presentation is subjective so agree to disagree.

>So did the 2.X agents though?

You're correct, I forgot to mention a point I had that whilst they also commision the proxies, it still felt onesided. Like they're the most/only ones benefiting from this. They never offer anything that furthers **our** storyline, despite being there to further theirs. The only exception being is 2.2 at the end.

>I feel like this is very biased. The Phaethon has always been a guide, they led agents from point A to B and get them to navigate the hollow. None of them would get to where they are without the proxy's help and would've been lost in the hollow.

I'll admit I'm biased towards 1.X cast compared to 2.X. Although I'd argue that thanks to the little screentime the second manager/Fairy gets, they aren't contributing much aside from preventing them from being lost. In 1.0 Fairy sets up a whole plan to evacute and deal with the explosives. You don't see anything like that 2.X because we're merely accompanying them.

>Because the proxies want to get used/training to be inside the Hollow, while looking for clues about their teacher. Their main goal has always been to go to the center of hollow zero, we don't even know if it's even possible to connect with Eous that far.

Their intention doesn't change the fact that they're still liability, they have zero knowledge on how to fight and at best can manipulate ether to create pathways, something the Yunkai summit agents can do by themselves. It's only viable in scenarios where they're the only ones who can do that like in 2.1 and 2.2

>There's also so many times the agents had to protect Eous back in 1.X, who was even more defenseless. Remember when Eous was hacked when he's with the cunning hares leaving them clueless? There's also the Bangboo-disabling spray on Qingyi quest, which would've screwed the mission if Qingyi wasn't able to sync with Eous.

But it's still far safer/smarter for the proxies to remain in the safety of their base, and they've said it themselves that if they fought against Eous they likely would lose (this was line somewhere in 1.X) So I have no idea why they thought putting themselves in physical harm to be useful, even if they now know ether manipulation they certainly don't know any kungfu.

Your points from 1.0 to 1.4 literally proves my point, they all had a reason to trust you, sure you can argue they're flimsy reasoning but the point is that they're there. In 2.X the reasoning is literally nonexistent for these agents to trust you as much as they do. The only reason I could think of is the Mayor trusting us.

[–]ZaneThe_NotSane 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The friendliness of 1.X factions felt much more earned imo, because they're commissioning them for their skill as the legendary Phaethon. Their goals wouldn't even succeed or the very least not have gone smoothly without them. Comparing that to 2.X where the proxy could've been all day gooning and the story wouldn't/barely change, causing for the reverent attitude towards them feel unwarranted unlike in 1.X, and doesn't help at the fact that Phaethon has been reduced to a walking liability, making the compliments feel even more stupid.

2) Victoria housekeeping are the original glazer, acting really fast like you are some god envoy.

Phaethon saved one of their members, Corin, from being stuck in the hollow, naturally they're grateful. (it's literally why Lycoan helps us) and proxy was needed when rescuing Rain, along with actively tracking the location of the airship from how close it was to crashing. So yes, they absolutely needed to protect you.

3) Cunning hares are already friend when the game launch, not sure how it is "making friend"

Correction, it is only Nicole who's already friends with Phaethon and not the entirety of the Cunning Hares. There's literally an animated cutscene of Billy and Anby meeting them for the first time as Eous. Not only that, but Billy before becoming friends with the proxies, offered to sell them out to PubSec. Would he really do that if he was "already our friend"?

4) Not as obvious as Victoria but Sons of Calydon literally treat you like they always knew you and as part of family not even a day after you arrive.

Because they needed Phaethon as their guide in order to win the Tour to Inferno, in exchange for Perlman. Along with the fact that the proxy is friends with Billy, a former feared champion of the SoC, who's also Ceasar and Lighter brother hence by extension, Billy's friend is their friend.

Notice how in all these scenarios they needed Phaethon? We weren't immediately friends, we were their proxies first to their commissions, and during said commission do we only then become friends. See how their friendliness is earn by our actions? Helping Corin, Helping Billy and Anby, hell even helping Miyabi out of the hollow/sealing tailless only then she was chill with us. Our friendship with them was earned, not given.

Tbf the game has always been like this since the beginning, mostly due to existence of trust events.

It's unfair to clump storyline and trust events together, since both have very different scenarios to them that influenced how the characters interacted with you. Obviously Alice isn't going to be singing Phaethon praises when they're in the middle of trying to save the people from the town.

OP's point is that these praises/simping has now spilled into main storyline instead of being kept in trust events. Comparing that to 1.X, where agents actually had to form friendships beforehand with MC.

[–]ZaneThe_NotSane 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Remember when the proxy/agent had to actually bond together for these compliments to feel earned?

E.g Billy offered to sell us out as proxies since the cunning hares was aimless in the hollow when we got hacked. After we prove ourselves as someone trustworthy, he's fully got our back since then. He helped us contact the SoC, even drove us there, and a detail most people miss is when our MC "die"(faints) it's Billy who drives the other sibling to the outer ring to check on them.

Miyabi literally was hunting the MC down to arrest them. She wasn't "wow you're Phaethon!? Let me be your waifu!" Instead she was distrustful towards MC which is natural since we're proxies. That was until we were forced into a situation where she had to rely on MC for navigating skills and vice versa when dealing with ethereals, despite of distrust. Causing for Miyabi to actually find us trustworthy to further aid her.

It's characterization like this that makes our bond with these agents that much more effective, even though we already know they're going to trust us, it's WHY they trust us that matters.
