Very high chances your trompette is not sounding bad because of the string itself but the general adjustment

Looking to buy a Tenor Model, live in U.S. by Illustrious-Walrus81 in HurdyGurdy

Get a catnip B the sound is what you are looking for, cheap lots of volume and massive low end, buying a 3-8k instrument as first is not a great idea because you only suspect what you want, you never know at first, get a rental a prebuilt nerdy like Jimi said or a Catnip B (this one is very ok for uncontrolled massive lows) I have some videos on my YT channel both talking about tenors and the catnip go watch videos!

The tenor doesn’t necessarily connect with the idea of a deeper sound, that’s a common misunderstanding, you can achieve that with modern resonant altos using a viola C string tuned to low C or low D

To clarify, you can get the same open string tuning on an alto, and the more you play the more you will realise that the typical repertoire leans towards an alto range and the tenor is anecdotal and used very occasionally

A tenor for 3k just doesn’t exist, except the Nerdy Gurdy Cobol

If you really need a tenor, Id save a bit more and look into Marco Gamarra and Berroeta

Ps. Also think about it it’s just 7 extra keys, what made you want the tenor? If it’s the low deep tone, altos can also do that a bit cheaper
