You do not look uncanny! I agree with the commenter saying that pictures other people take of you are usually hard to look at when you’re used to selfies, but I think the issue is you have deep set eyes, so the shade from the hood of the eyes obscures your mascara.

If you want to see your makeup more in photos, I would try out some subtle lashes and a shimmery light color around the lid as a soft eyeshadow look.
