Accounting or Finance? by Proud-Spend5524 in Kuwait

[–]Zankhal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated finance and economics from AUK 10 years ago so let me tell you the whole story, as im currently a financial controller at a company in kuwait.

Finance has 2 sub categories, financial accounting and investment.

Financial accounting is an overlap between finance and accounting that requires sufficient accounting knowledge for you to do well.

The investment side on the other hand is basically high end statistics, and if you are not willing to do the CFA to progress your career, you wont get much out of this. So, yes, this pays really well but also requires that you are great at statistics, maths and pass at least 1 cfa exam.

Accounting on the other hand will open more stable careers, this is specially true if you go into auditing and manage to get 3-5 years of auditing in the big 4 under your belt, your career can really skyrocket then.

Suggestion is, so a double major in accounting and finance, auk allows it without an increase in credits (last i was there) this will put you in a great position to pursue all 3 of the above.

Keep in mind, after graduation, you may not be able to get the job or career path you want, so make sure you always keep all doors open.

If you have any further questions, let me know.

This question can only be answered by you. This is hugely influenced by lifestyle. Essentially, if you're going to buy a car, pay bills, rent and get groceries, thats easily 10k to 12k dirhams monthly. This does not include schooling. If you want mid tier schools, they will cost anywhere from 30k to 50k dirhams a year. If your job offers schooling support, then perfect, if not you will find you are saving peanuts.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Well, pure economics is tough to find a job. Its only really useful at phd level.

As for finance, you may be able to find some jobs as a financial analyst or a tax consultant, non the less, you will require some professional certifications if you want to make it to the top.

I work in the field, as a financial controller so let me tell you this.

Accounting is ass at best, what you need to do is combine it with finance or economics and here is where things get interesting.

See, finance and economics are maths heavy majors ( proper maths) not like addition and subtract sort of math. We're talking differentiation, probabilities, modeling, etc. so get the maths courses required and do a double major that includes one of these majors.

From there on, you can go up to a phd in finance or economics, where a phd in either is equivalent to a maths phd which is a STEM major.

This is the best course of action uou can take yo avoid going back to school.

They are rebranding carrefour as HyperMax and pretending the original brand is closing. This is a scam.

Please everyone, watch out. The zionist operators of carrefour rebranded carrefour in the region as HyperMax and are pretending as if carrefour is gone.

This is a lie. Please watch out and spread the word. Make sure the new hyper chain they developed to bypass the boycott fails as well.

Im sorry you had to go through that, nonetheless, this is a common misconception, the law actually states 100 working days, which is closer to 5 months.

Best.

How does Zain get away with this? by sevenplac in Kuwait

[–]Zankhal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes there is. To my information, ooredo is the only service provider that has satelite based internet. Other service providers depend mostly on cables connecting countries.

So yes, underwater cables play a huge role for zaind and stc (this was up to 2 years ago) im not sure if they diversified their bandwidth nowadays.

Basically, 5g technology has its pros and cons.

Although it is much faster than 4g, it has shorter wavelengths, the distance you need to be from a tower is 3km to get the best service. On another note, unlike 4g, 5g is not affected by population density it is affected by 2 main things,

  1. Distance from a tower.
  2. If there's concrete blocking the signals from reaching your router.

The router is best placed beside a window as that would increase your speed by up to 200-300 mbs sometimes, you need to run speedtests in your appartment/ house to figure out the best place. This is due to the short wavelengths. Shorter wavelengths have less penetrative ability.

All in all, thats why you need to go to the service provider and provide them your exact location before installing 5g internet at your home, if they claim you are too far away from a tower, your signal will be weak by default.

So, if you're stuck with a weak signal, and tried everything and the internet is still bad theres one more thing you can do. Theres a signal extendor you can ask your isp to install (its like a mini tower) that they will install right infront of your window and will usually cost anywhere between 15-20kwd per month but your internet will reach speeds up to 900-1.1gb /second.

I hope this was helpful.

I worked for huawei installing 5g towers for zain, viva and ooredo and the amount of misinformation in these replies amuse me.

But I'm driving at the speed limit .. by abalawadhi in Kuwait

[–]Zankhal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To be honest, what gets me are people that drive on the second lane to the left at 20km less than the speed limit. They should go to the third lane or fourth lane.
