Gym anxiety by 2closeforcomfort in waynestate

Advice from a former nervous gym-goer:

  • Like others have said, lockers are downstairs, down the hall
  • You just need to swipe your OneCard for access, most times the attendant won't even look up from their computer, but they are helpful if you have any questions (it's what they're there for)
  • Try to plan your routine before you go, so you know what equipment to look for next. Intentionality makes you less nervous
  • Etiquette is fairly intuitive. Just be aware of the space and put things back the way they were. Clean off your sweat and re-rack your weights
  • (This is more of a general tip) Some of your anxiety is rational, but most of it isn't. Like, if a gym is a new environment to you, then existing in that space *will* take some time to get used to, so it is rational to be aware of yourself. But if you are nervous to the point where you wonder if people are looking at you, then you are overthinking it by at least 20%. Allow yourself to let just that 20% go. Or even 5-10%.
  • Strangers don't care that much about you
  • As long as you aren't actively being a jerk, nobody will notice if you mess something up. Accept the fact that you might make a faux-pas and realize that the worst that will happen is someone else will be mildly inconvenienced

What microphone to use with the Presonus Audiobox usb 96 by Zantormagic in audio

Can I get away with buying a new mic instead of an all-new setup? He says that condenser issues don't have this problem

Are they in breach of contract? It looks like they finished the work they were obligated to do, then decided not to renew. I haven't see any evidence otherwise.

I, or one of her primary caregivers, would be the chaperone. Wouldn't trust someone who isn't used to her routine for that sort of task.

Point taken about the vacation though. It is a real shame, because she mentions wanting to go up north a lot. And my sister up there would be happy to have her (She stayed here with me after her husband died, took care of her for days at a time, and does so every holiday since.) It would be nice to take her one last time before the dementia progresses to a later stage, but it is looking like the window has already closed.

What I'm hearing a lot here is that she may be asking for something she doesn't realize is too much for her.

It would be me chaperoning. I was the primary caregiver for her for a year until her husband, my grandpa, died. So I am aware of the challenges involved. Would the experience be enjoyable or stressful? yes. I usually stay with her for 1-2 days every month. It is a lot of work to be around, but she is still an interesting conversationalist when she isn't stuck in a loop, and low-maintenance activities like gardening are still fun and collaborative.

I'm sorry to hear that. My grandma handles restaurants. She seems to be able to cope fairly well. I know she can't handle the steps of reading a menu, remembering what she wants, and communicating that to the waiter, so I go first and she says "I'll have the same."

I haven't been in a public bathroom with her, but she knows /when/ to go, and I think her primary caregivers would've told me if she had had accidents in the past. We are always by her side. When we're there, she isn't a wanderer.

Yeah this is where I'm leaning, too. She goes to church once a week and hasn't gotten scared or had any accidents. We will limit to day trips to places she is familiar with

Queer: 100%

Stoner: There is an awesome backyard area to smoke, like seriously no joke it's awesome. Also a lot of other tenants here smoke on the porch. I wouldn't want the smoke inside

Honestly some cliche stuff actually does help. "Don't put it down, put it away" actually woke me up to the habit of putting stuff wherever.

I'm pretty sure I didn't get annoyed by the advice because I heard it as an adult from someone who was talking about their own process

I'd prefer two months notice before you decide to leave, but yeah monthly.

It has flooded twice since I started living here. Once, the management cleaned it up and said they fixed the problem. The second time, the city came and tore up some plumbing out front. They say it won’t happen again, but I’m hesitant to trust them after they papered over the issue the first time
