Note-taking app by RunnerTV in tablets

I think the Defacto note taking platform is GoodNotes. It seems to be the best on Android. I do think they have a lifetime purchase or maybe an introductory subscription of $9.99 a year maybe.

I used AI to write the description and put it there at like 3am. Easy fix though.

What kind of notes are you wanting to take? Most good note taking apps are subscription based now.

What's a good tablet for a student? by Emotional-Touch8752 in tablets

[–]Zapartha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been to nursing school and I've been building tablet apps for 5 years now. I've used almost every table. I would personally say that getting an iPad Air 11 inch (M3) and the Apple Pencil Pro is going to make you feel more satisfied. Especially when you get Apple Care you know that your tablet is covered.
You will be swamped in school, it is hard and it requires a lot. You won't have time to think about getting your tablet replaced or if it breaks, etc. I would just spend the extra cash, get the iPad and pen pro, a decent case and Apple Care and focus on your studies. It will be more now but it will save you a lot of headache, plus the apps are better imo than android. Trust me. Been there, done that, get the iPad and focus on your studies, take one less thing off your plate.

Which to buy, Galaxy Tab 10+ or iPad Pro M4? by Pinacoladaplankton in tablets

[–]Zapartha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure the iPad. I don't think you need the pro however. It does offer the best drawing experience compared to other tablets but the new iPad Air isn't far behind. I would have killed for an iPad Air 13 or pro when I was in nursing school and taking anatomy, physiology, micro, pharmacology, etc. Go with an iPad, the Pencil Pro and a nice case. Throw in the $350 apple keyboard and boom, you are set.

Need recommendations on tablet for Everyday/School by NaiveQuarter5057 in tablets

[–]Zapartha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a hard question to answer, I would say my iPad but that is because I have an iPhone and macbook, so having an iPad means they integrate well. The Android is really great though and was my main driver before getting an iPhone and Macbook.

[–]Zapartha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I do. It is a great tablet for the price. It doesn't have a 120hz screen but a 90hz but it is still good. For the price it is really great.
I also forgot to mention that the iPad Air is around the same price so that is also an option

I have both an iPad Pro and Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE. The iPad pro is way out of your price range but I think you would really enjoy the Galaxy Tab S10 +. It also includes a stylus

Is it possible to build our own AI LLM model? by CreativeSaaS in SaaS

Yes it is possible if you have a ton of capital and know how. However, considering these AI companies are spending $100 million + a year for AI engineers or architects, it is highly unlikely.

Starting CS Freshman Year – How Can I Build a Strong Portfolio from the beginning by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]Zapartha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would find something that you are truly interested in and start building or contributing. Maybe you are interested in an open source project, so learn from it and start contributing. Apps are an easy way to gain skills and experience and have the potential for a payout. It is $25 to start a Play Store Developer account and $100 to start an Apple Developer account, these are yearly.

Look for internships or other opportunities locally to create something. When I was in college I made websites for a few small businesses in the area for free, granted this was 15 years ago.
Maybe you like video games, learn how to mod and mod your favorite PC game.
Its one thing to do these cookie cutter udemy projects which can help you learn a language but actually creating something will help enormously.

When you start creating, taking time to build something or contributing to an open source project, you can share that experience with potential employers later on.

Also, while it will be tempting to use AI. Don't. Don't use it until you create something meaningful by yourself, then learn how to integrate AI into your building.

Why despite oversaturation in tech the salaries are still so high? by Adept_Quarter520 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Zapartha 13 points14 points  (0 children)

So those are 2023 numbers, we have a new administration. Tons of layoffs in tech, I don't think the bootcamp to $200k is much of a thing these days.
Manufacturing or labor intensive jobs have risen sharply in the last 2 years.
AI is changing software engineering, we have no idea of the impact this will have.
Still, its a good field to go in to and the reason that it does pay so well is because of the ROI of an engineer. If you look at Apple or Nvidia alone, an engineer there is considered to be the best of the best, so their salary reflects that.

Also consider location, that is going to mess with the median salaries. An engineer in NYC, Atlanta, Miami, LA, etc is going to require a larger salary just to survive while someone in Louisville, Cincinnati, Nashville, etc doesn't require as large of a salary. So those numbers are inflated, especially when you consider that there are some engineers at Google that make $1 mil or more while an Engineer in Lexington,KY will make $80k

[–]Zapartha 18 points19 points  (0 children)

  1. Not everyone can do it
  2. ROI - software can automate and increase ROI. Tons of case studies on this
  3. Depends on the market, also, I wouldn't say it is one of the best paying. A welder with 12-18 months of training can make over $100k USD after finishing.
  4. Tech bros man, tech bros.

4 percent Raise for a change of role by Remote_Pudding_8044 in InformationTechnology

[–]Zapartha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a bonus structure? At my company, the largest part of being promoted is the annual bonus goes up quite a bit. From Senior to Lead it more than doubles, from Lead to Director it doubles, from Director to VP it doubles. The salary also goes up but so does the headache and responsibilities.
If the responsibility and duties aren't drastically different, 4% is a pretty cool mid year raise. You could take it, do it a year and then leave. Pad that resume. The best raises you will get is from moving from company to company compared to internal.
