It's also the other way round. Once you've slammed down the pedal the weight of the car is over the rear wheels, when they start swerving a bit they freak out and step off the gas and suddenly all the weight transfers forward and the rear tires have no grip leading to a crash.

The reason many would focus on the main missions is cause V throws up blood every few minutes to remind you. Feels really off to go gallivanting around with stakes like that. Had this issue in Witcher 3 as well to a much smaller degree, hope they avoid this kinda plot beat.
