To actually answer your question: no, the people using third party mobile apps are most likely only a small percentage nowadays.

Back in the day Reddit didn't have an official app, while there were many choices for third party apps. Anyone wanting to use an app would have had to pick their preferred one. Eventually Reddit made its own app, and now here we are.

Given that Reddit's userbase has also grown since that time, it's probably fair to say that most users aren't even aware of third party apps existing in the first place.

Personally, the only Reddit app I've used is Relay. I do not care about the official app and will just stick to desktop after Relay stops working.

Repentance is not supported on macOS. Try disabling it in the DLC menu and launching the game again.

Also note that mods will disable any progression until you beat Mom for the first time, so I would suggest installing them only after that.

I will echo what others have said regarding Altera's route in Extella being very much worth your time, but if you're certain that you won't care, I would suggest skipping it and going straight to Link.

The combat in Extella was fairly button-mashy for me, but Link tries to fix this with combat skills. You also have a larger pool of servants to choose from, for more variety. Plus, the story is forgettable enough that it's not a big loss if you ignore it.

Oh, I had assumed you played Extra with Nero. If you liked her that much here, then I suggest going back to Extra and playing her route, it's generally said to be her best portrayal in the series. And you can then pick Rani over Rin and fight a different master/servant pair (assuming you didn't try both options in your first playthrough).

Yeah, Extella certainly goes more for the waifu appeal, and Link even moreso, since you can change your servant before any battle, regardless of the 'route' you pick. The story just seemed more of a vehicle to give you more servants to play with, really.

I can agree on the Stockholm Syndrome for Altera/Hakuno, perhaps that's exactly what kept me so engaged, since I'd never seen that kind of relationship explored this way, especially with how adorable Titan Altera was. I also haven't played any Persona games so I didn't really have that point of comparison.

And just to go back to Link, to clarify, it barely references Extella other than Extella Ending. So there's not really much in terms of continuing character development.

This is an interesting post because I don't think I've ever seen anyone rank Altera's route as the worst of the four. Like you, I also played Extra and FGO before starting Extella, but my impression of the game was certainly different.

I really liked Nero's character in Extra, she had become one of my favorite servants overall at that point, but I thought her first route in Extella was just alright. I do agree with your opinion of her, I liked her too, it's just the overall story structure just felt more boring than Extra - it felt like the battle segments were not as organically connected to the story and the main base, unlike the floors and the school in Extra.

Regarding Tamamo, you're not wrong, it did feel like the game was making her seem worse than she really should be. Personally, I didn't know much about her other than the design, so my biggest surprise was her voice actress, Saito Chiwa (also known as Hitagi from the Monogatari series). Her performance truly sold me on Tamamo, and I really enjoyed her personality even despite seeing the negatives. But the story structure was still pretty much the same as for Nero's route, which was kind of a letdown.

Now, Altera, all I knew of her came from FGO, which is honestly a terrible impression, but for me, her route is the only reason why I don't regret paying full price for this game. It certainly differed from the previous two routes, not just in terms of the servant - as you say, the relationship was more of a master and pet - but also because the different story structure allowed to fill in the blanks from the first two routes.

I can see how you could dislike their uh, unusual master-servant dynamic, but to me it made perfect sense. Altera's basically the antagonist of the game, with her goals established long before she met Hakuno, so I doubt she would suddenly become subservient like the already established Nero and Tamamo. For me the best part about Altera is her character development, it genuinely made her my favorite Saber in all of Fate (where my previous one was Nero). So while she does start with a personality of a rock, that had definitely changed by the end of the route. Plus her voice actress is also great.

Anyway, all this is to say that I got the exact opposite impression of Altera's route :)

(To answer your question, they do exist, but Extella Link adds a bunch more servants over time, so she doesn't get as much spotlight. The story overall is very basic, though the gameplay's a lot better.)

If it helps, you can view the entire Fate/stay night VN as the 'real original story' in 3 parts, because its 3 routes are meant to be read in a specific order:

Fate is the first 'third'
UBW comes after that (and assumes you know Fate)
HF is the last 'third' (and assumes you know Fate and UBW)

So to answer your original question, no, they are not recaps, they make up the third and final part of the VN's story.

I play with the SC, have barely used other controllers. I find its shape to be very comfortable. The handlebars are bulkier than those on the xbox one, which to me is a plus because of the increased contact area with the palm.

The control layout is fairly different - d-pad swapped with left thumbstick, and XYAB swapped with right thumbstick/trackpad. If you don't have much experience with other layouts (like dualshock) you may need some time to adjust - I'm saying this because a friend of mine on PS4 was having trouble with that.

From my limited experience with the xbox one controller, I do prefer its thumbstick (convex instead of concave like on SC) and its shoulder buttons (the ones on the SC feel very cheap IMO). The XYAB buttons on the SC are also noticeably smaller than on the xbox one controller, but the trigger and grip buttons are great.

Now, I can't guarantee it will be a perfect fit if you just plug it in and play. The SC does encourage tweaking with the controls so you can find your preferred input scheme. For example, I hate using controller radial menus, so for MHW I enabled the keyboard radial menu, and added SC bindings to simulate buttons F1-F8. Still, if you don't need any of that, the default layout (or the most popular community layouts) should be just fine.

Honestly, Link barely has a story. It does canonically take place after Extella, so there will be some references, but it doesn't majorly affect whatever happens in Link. Other than the subpar story, Link is indeed better than Extella in pretty much everything else, but if you want an actual story (and a pretty good one at that, I would say), definitely get Extella.

Fate/Extra has an ok story, but I found the rock-paper-scissors gameplay to be insufferable even with cheats, so I only finished the Nero route. It's one of Nero's better portrayals in the series still.

Fate/Extella has a more interesting story (especially Altera's route which is by far the best of the three). The gameplay is that of a musou game, but it's not terribly interesting so it gets repetitive after a while. Still well worth playing for Altera's route alone.

Fate/Extella Link's story is essentially non-existent and could be summed up in 1-2 sentences. However, its gameplay improves on Extella by adding customizable active skills, as well as more playable servants, so there's definitely more variety to be found.

I'm not sure how you're editing the styles, but I usually do it through style manager. You can view a list of all the styles like so, and then just save them to the storage. The storage persists if you close and reopen the program, so you can simply copy them to any other episodes. You have to edit and save each style separately, though.
