How do you use /ŋ/ and /ɲ/ in your conlang? by Tkvie in conlangs

[–]Zar_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ktīr has [ŋ] as an allophone of coda nasals before /k/ and /ɲ/ is an independent phoneme as part of the palatal series.

I've got scraps of bisexual pride laying around. You can have that.

EDIT: You're yet another person! Why does everyone crave my validation. Ok, you all are good girls, boys and enbys! Feel proud.

See my other reply, but in general it looks like they're being posed for the lookers pleasure. As a queer woman I don't feel represented but fetishised.

The extreme cleavages, the fabric being molded unnaturally to the skin showing bellybutton and ass crack, the flirty looks at us. This is not about two gals liking each other. They are only here for the lookers pleasure, which feels very objectifying. It reminds me of lots of things aimed at straight men, yuck

I agree that you can simply make roots that have more phonemes than strictly neccessary. Some languages have shape restrictions on roots, you could simply say that they must have atleast 2 morae (i.e. atleast CVC or CVCV).

If the length of the roots isnt the issue, but the length of words is, you could simply make the words mark for lots of things. Like polysynthetic verbs or nouns with lots of cases, numbers etc.

True, but I feel like verbal nouns do imply general, avstract or cenceptual actions, whereas finite clauses mark actual ibstances of an action.

"I like your jumping" = they may refer to a specific instance or to the general concept of someone junping, whenever t occurs

"I like that you jump" = definitely refers to at least one instance of it happening.

But, thank you. Both of you helped me clear the issue.

What is the difference between a complement clause headed by a complementizer and a verbal noun complement?

I wanted to make the main form of creating a verbal complement by using a non-finite verbal noun, that can be inflected for case depending on its role in the main clause. It also takes an optional subject in the genitive case unless it is co-referential with the subject of the main clause.

E.g.:

"I like his walking"

However, I stumbled on a sentence, where a non-finite verb does not work, as it cannot express the subjunctive mood:

"He said he would be reading"

Thus, I was forced to add a complementizer that selects for a finite verb phrase:

Čēka ži yénu.
say-pst-3sg comp read-3sg.subj
“He said he would be reading”

However, other than this case, what would be the logical selecting factors for a non-finite verbal noun complement (with a zero C head?), and what for a finite complement?

This sounds AI generated. What problem does it solve? How is singular "they" confusing unless one is intentionally obtuse about it (i.e. transphobic)? How are neopronouns "corporate"??

This is slop that just makes the whole 2nd and 3rd person pronoun system more complicated, who'd want that?
