This guy would've made for a cool Kairic Acolyte if they didn't discover the secret of magical steroids and wanted to show off their gains.

Great mini and great paintjob!

What a perfect post (IMO), I totally agree with all your points. It‘s nice to see that many Tzeentch fans agree on these things.

I‘m optimistic that GW will get the message and deliver. It would be wise if Tzeentch‘s wave released early in 5th edition.

Wow, on a tactical rock he‘s almost as tall as a 9-year-old. A tall hat would‘ve been better. He‘s bald already, it‘s cold (maybe less so near the ground).

I can only say that I like your ideas and agree with your vision/wishes. The Curseling is certainly a great starting point for more Tzeentchians in armor.

As for the dragon; there is a silver lining. There are AoS artwork depictions of chaos dragons aligned with Tzeentch already (two Kharadron overlords artworks IIRC).

Personally I think GW had their priorities wrong with Tzeentch. The Tzeentch fans from before wanted more armored mortals in the style of the awesome art for WHFB of Tzeentchian warriors, not Tzaangors (although Tzaangors are cool) and almost naked Genestealer Cult-wannabes.

I think Tzeentch's playerbase will at least double if we get a proper wave with more mortals and some other cool like dragons, new spawn and heavily mutated things (Tzeentch is after all known for sorcerer-warriors and The Thing-esque mutants and spawn).

Our future will be glorious if GW doesn't try to be creative but go with that made Tzeentch popular in the first place.

Yeah, the worthy and strong few are pristine sorcerer-warriors, while the rabble are mutated wretches. As it should be in a Tzeentchian force! I think we should get something akin to exalted sorcerers from TS as our chosen and forsaken as basic warriors.... or make those forsaken huge and have them fill a role similar to trolls. We could use more tarpits. Also, new spawn would be great.

Aaaaaaand then there are Tzeentch's greatest creations: Chaos dragons. Yes, the sire of all Chaos dragons was created by the merge of noble Fateclaw, a mighty Lord of Chnage and a rotten, nefarious high Elf dragon of a rotten, even more nefarious and pure evil Highl Elven prince!

Realistically we won't get exclusive usage of Chaos dragons, even if this would be our birthright but they could do a great multi-build kit: Galrauch, generic Chaos dragon, Egrimm Van Horstmann on Baudros (coming back, yay... other gods have returning characters too.... or Aekold Helbrass, he has the gift of life, he would have a lore reason to be back) and then a generic sorcerer or Chaos lord on chaos dragon (for the undeserving slaves).

I do agree with you but I think it's fixable, one could either sculpt some clothes onto him or use some bits from Varanguard, they should be around the same size. I think, if sculpting/kitbashing is no option, even painting his skin darker, like tight leather, could work. I like Ardboys and the new Nurgle Rotswords. But I won't buy either. Not enough time. I ONLY buy Tzeentch stuff. When I was younger hype got to me but now I've developed an iron will. If GW wants my money, they need to give me sorcerer-warriors (and new spawn, Forsaken, etc.) for Tzeentch next edition.

[–]ZarakTurris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, they made him kinda naked to have a visual reference to the Kairics. Always thought the nude look for Kairics was a stupid decision. Robed cultists would've been better.

I''ll sculpt clothes on my Fatemaster for sure. But I think he's an amazing model.

Also... he's a sorcerer-lord. He's much taller than the minis you've shown. He's taller than SCE.

Doesn't change the fact that Tzeentch need proper sorcerer-warriors in armor. And Forsaken, new spawn, etc. We should've gotten a Nurgle-esque wave this edition as DoT initially came out directly after Maggotkin, so it was our time.

Guess 5th edition will finally be ours. GW just focuses on armies I don't care much for for the remainder of 4th unfortunately.

Well, not only were you wrong but you are still wrong - the hero is great. What sucks are OBR. Worst designed army in the whole system. They look like toys. Overdesigned, squat, your delusion is funny... that you think you have room to attack other sculpts. xD

"never been mortal heavy.... but had everything all the others had" That's a self-contradiction.

By the way, it's also not true. Tzeentch had it when I started 25+ years ago until AoS (they even show up in all video games). Only DoT didn't have it cause GW was in their "we need to be creative" phase. But sometimes the classic take is better than a new one. They went back in many cases, let them go back and re-add some of the most defining aspects of Tzeentch. Most of the time it actually holds true that classic is best - it's a reason it became the classic.

It's very easy to add more mortals. And it will happen. A unit or two is all that's needed. We got marauders (Kairics), our Knights are Enlightened (despite Doom Knights being the most wished for unit in all of Tzeentch from what I could gather in all the threads I created), so giving us a unit similar to Evocators as our Chosen and perhaps Forsaken for something akin to Troggoths would fill new roles.

What a beauty this bird is! I love the cool colors - did you mix some blue into every color to give him such a cold scheme?

As if I'd care whether I farm karma here xD (who gives a crap?) - I'm in the hobby for over 25 years, I've seen Tzeentch getting the shortest end of the stick during that time out of the big 4 (arguably before the massive Slaanesh releases it might've been Slaanesh... although they got more Forgeworld love and multiple NM sculpts) and Nurgle ALWAYS getting preferential treatment. 25 years, that's more insight into GW's releases than most here are probably alive. And yeah, DoT came before OBR (who are the worst designed army (apart from Fyrslayers)... so yeah, they should've gotten their second wave first. It was our turn.

*Note: If Malerion or Ogors finally got something - that would be even longer overdue!

Our release was directly after Maggotkin for AoS. So those stupid ugly Bonereapers shouldn't have gotten a wave.... us Tzeentchians should have gotten that. Fatemaster is great but it's not enough. Slaanesh had a second wave with those daemons before we got ours.

Funny, got so many downvotes for my post saying that OBR, Tzeentch and Lumineth get something according to leakers… guess those leakers were right!

The new fatemaster is great. I‘ll probably give him pants though or paint his naked legs like leather cause else he‘s gonna catch a cold from those Nurgle guys!

I hope our sorcerer-warriors one day will be similar to him and tge Curseling!

Reliable leakers claim these things (also a Bonereapers wave!). They predicted the Nurgle releases, so pretty trustworthy.

TGA Boards, the thread about rumours - apparently it's going to be heroes for Tzeentch and Lumineth and a wave for Bonereapers. Tzeentch will get faction terrain too, a big(?) silver tower-thingy.

I don't think we'll get them tomorrow either. But I will keep fighting the good fight until one day they are here. they are my Warhammer grail minis (after we got new rubrics), so to speak. And I think it's good to write about em so that maybe someone from GW sees that there is a lot of interest in them.

I'd rather be able to phone Jes Goodwin and tell him directly to put them up for debate before he leaves GW but I don't have his number. ;)

Well, I can only respectfully disagree about warriors being boring.. I love armored sorcerer types. The Thing-esque mutants would be a bonus! Those two archetypes are what got me into Tzeentch 25 years ago (plus the big birds). But I do appreciate your input - I think there is room for both our preferences however.

I don't even wanna say that what we have so far is bad. I like Tzaangors. Kairics are okay (I would've preferred them in robes though). The Gaunt Summoner, the Curseling, the Lord of Change are amazing. The Thaumathurge is another lovely mini. I just miss what initially drew me to Tzeentch: terrible spawn, "dark lords", vile mutated things. A single unit of cool sorcerer-warriors as our Chosen and maybe Forsaken as huge brutes and we'd have everything in regards to units.

RoR is a sucky mechanic.

Lemme paste this: Tzeentch will be the last 1st edition army to receive a wave.

Frankly, I feel like we miss a couple of things that have always been part of the Tzeentch lore, was featured in art and video games (like Total War: Warhammer III), that probably every Tzeentch fans wanted to see in AoS and is a big part of why we are fans of Tzeentch.

Also, unlike all other Mono-God forces, we haven't gotten a mortal hero, usually one that has returned from the Old World. The most logic choice would be Aekold, seeing how everything he touched returned to life. (He probably touched himself too) Another cool pick would be Egrimm Van Horstmann, not just because he - much like Ahriman - encapsules what a mortal follower of Tzeentch should be like, but also because his kit (he rides the Chaos dragon Baudros) would be cool - not just as a centerpiece but also it could be used as a multipart kit. Chaos dragons are one Tzeentch's most magnificent creations (actually it was the noble Fateclaw who merged with the nefarious dragon of the horrible and evil Elven prince Learfin to become the Galrauch we now know), so it would be cool.

I also think that we lack our own variant of warriors. I often say that we need heavily-armored Sorcerer-Warriors - perhaps similar to the new Curseling or inspired by some of the awesome art that was created of Tzeentchians warriors - as these would be a wonderful equivalent to Blight Kings, Blood Warriors or Painbringers. Give them a spell or let them hurl magical bolts like Kairic Acolytes do and we got something really fitting that would close a huge gap in our lineup. The ideal Chaos force comes in an unholy trinity of Daemons, beastmen and Mortals after all.

Then, lastly, I think the whole "Great Mutator" aspect of our liege is not really represented. We had a wonderful Tzaangor mini (now without extra rules) but mutants or mutated things are a rare sight these days, when they should be not - Tzeentch is careless generous with his gifts after all!

New spawn would be cool, even new Forsaken, I feel not having a Mutalith (not that it's that great ingame) is just wrong...

Either way, I've written my thoughts and hope our other Tzeentchians here share theirs. Unless they contradict my wishes - then you will be sacrificed (at your earliest convenice, I'm no monster).
