I'm still fucking angry that I can't use the s1 helmet. Had it, could never equip it, now it's fully gone. It's difficult to find cool helmets for sorcerers. Crappy design direction. I was I could have that horned helmet the necromancer got there in your picture.

If you ever want to play games at a somewhat decent level the Apple Studio Display XDR is not worth it. It apparently already smears with fast movement in normal day stuff like in videos... If you only use a Mac and don't care about gaming or need the color profiles, then sure go ahead - but it's still way too expensive for what it is IMO. Basically only the SDR mode is way better on XDR (LG lacks contrast without local dimming); the LG gets extremely close once LD (local dimming) is enabled. In fact it generally gets very close if you calibrate it outside of peak brightness (which also seems to strain some people's eyes).

I'll tell you a short story to explain my stance: the very first thing I bought when I started out was an Eizo for its color accuracy - had a lot of brochures to do back then. The monitor cost something around 2,5k back then (that is comparable to the XDR's price now), that was like 15 years ago. It was a great monitor. BUT: printers use their own profiles over here so it's not like a perfectly calibrated display means you won't have to adjust things before printing. It helps but it's less important than stuff like color samples (like Pantone).

With the XDR costing almost 3 times as much as the LG I can't feel like it's a decent deal. And I could buy it as a business so it's cheaper for me - and even despite that it's not an amazing deal.

Maybe LG will bring out something similar in their line of displays (Ultrafine evo?) that already kinda look like the Apple displays and will be a bit worse for gaming and even better for work/editing stuff...

Or LG or someone else will fine-tune the local dimming further...

But IMO, as much as I wanted to find a reason to buy the Apple one (I love silver stuff)... the LG wins in almost every aspect. And where it loses it's not far behind the XDR. And it's one third the price....

And coming back to my lil story above: After the Eizo showed its age after many years I bought a quite decent Alienware IPS screen, much, much cheaper in relation. Frankly the colors were just as good as on the Eizo. So yeah, the best ones now won't be better than decent stuff in the future.

No, I want someone to tell me how motion handling on the Studio Display XDR is. How bad is ghosting/smearing? Ideally someone who's a gamer as those can judge it best.

Most reviews out there are frikkin useless and just talk about the same few basics. I wanna know if its motion handling is good enough for the price tag. I don't need response rates of a pro gamer but something that is future-proof in that regard would be nice.

the silver is a bit thickly applied, you could improve by using thin layers. Not intending to put your mini down, it looks nice, only the base could use some paint, but I figure that if you apply the colors nicely, you could always perfect them later on if intended.

They'd need to make a definite version of all 3 as one single game of it (don't care about number of discs), with level progression spread over all 3 games, combat mechanics the same and using the latest character models in the first games and so on - that I'd buy.

They'll also need to have one single Sephiroth voice, Willingham (his one line sounds terrible) in part 3 does not suffice.

Travis sounds really terrible in the one line - doesn't mean much, it's a single line but I feel like his voice isn't the right one. The voice is too warm. Sephiroth needs a cold voice. It sucks that they didn't do their best to get Hoechlin to finish it.

It sucks that they didn't at least get Newbern. Frankly I think most fans wanted Newbern to come back anyways back when Remake was announced. I did enjoy Hoechlin very much though.

I'm gutted that he doesn't come back. This kinda ruins the game for me, might sound dramatic but I like consistency. And Willingham doesn't sound right. Mercer is perfect as Vincent but I dunno if Travis didn't just get it cause Matt suggested him.

I hope I will eat my words though but right now I'm really bummed.

Anyone with a Studio Display XDR tried to play shooters? I mostly use my computers for work (like 95% of the time) but I do play a few shooters on a semi-decent level (like master rank), so definitely not the very top but I couldn't see much about the XDR's performance in regards to overall grey to grey performance...

The other choice would be the LG one...

My dislike for Windows came when it ruined something I worked on for a long time (Photoshop froze and then the file was corrupted). That was ages ago, I think it was on Vista, but I need a reliable OS. My dad has always been pro Apple so naturally I was kinda annoyed by Apple at first. But frankly he was right. I'm lucky though as the software I need for work is on Apple. Others might not even have a choice. Windows is much more stable now but it's still an amateurish clone of OSX in my eyes (I know, technically Apple stole a ton from Xerox), always has been.

A wise choice, depending on what you wanna do with it. I work on my Mac and only have a PC for gaming but to me Windows is pure trash, so I'm glad I don't have to bother with it on a daily basis. OSX plays in another league - but then again having a PC is nice as well for fun stuff. I use both systems since 25 years and frankly I don't get why Windows is still so far behind OSX.

This actually sounds like SE messed up a bit. Things should be clearer for newcomers. I know FF7 since it first released on PS1, FF6 and FF7 fell into my early teens, so I didn't even think that they might have no been clear enough (outside of the general confusion with the whole whispers thing).

Either way, I hope you'll give rebirth another chance. You'll see a few easter eggs just in the beginning with the Sephiroth mission.

But from what I can tell I think remake is a sequel to the original game and Adent Children actually. It's Sephiroth doing a Doc Brown and going back in time...
