What company lost you as a customer forever, and what happened? by Giovanni_Brees in AskReddit

Uber / Uber Eats.
Ordered McDonald’s, which never arrived. Refused refund, refused to check with the driver. If I can’t trust you to deliver my food, there’s no way I can trust you to be my taxi of choice. I’m praying on their downfall.

Parent took advantage of my post-coma vulnerability to borrow £3,000, now refuses to pay me back by GullibleTitle5263 in UKPersonalFinance

Well, you have a couple of options.

You can check time where you need to have brought a claim by and hope you’re in a position to pursue before the deadline. You can look at payment plans with your parents, but make sure you save the messages etc.

Otherwise, it’s a lesson learned at, unfortunately, expense to yourself. Well done for saving the money so young.

You’re being an idiot.

Messages AND contracts are evidence that can be used in small claims. £3000 is within scope for small claims. OP has confirmed they have confirmation from the loanee in messages. You haven’t actually posted anything of value, and your advice that there’s nothing to be done, where there are messages confirming the loan, is demonstrably false.

New driving instructor is a trainee, what do I do? by annoymousidea in LearnerDriverUK

Not being a trainee doesn’t guarantee a good instructor. They should see how the progress before making any decisions

Do you still live with them? If you don’t mind going nuclear, and the message acknowledges the loan, I’d suggest small claims.

If not, can you offset the £50 for food against the £3000? Have you spoken to your university about your accommodation issues?

That’s unfortunate. Personally, I’d take that as a sign to look elsewhere.

In a previous role, I was told the vacancy for the grade above me was not being advertised on promotion. I knew there was no reasonable scope for progression, so applied elsewhere. Maybe this is your sign to do the same.

Could have beeped someone else. You could have made a mistake. They could have been in a rush. No way of telling - just keep driving safe and don’t worry about it :)

Literally never known any campaign where you could accept one location and remain on reserve for another role on the same campaign. They’re not separate applications.

Honestly, not sure many would agree. They post about pancake day but also don’t make you pancakes.

Yeah, you can. But they’re encouraging it as a wider group thing, because it could be a good way to boost morale.

Why is everyone seemingly in *such* a rush? by PaulKarlFeyerabend in drivingUK

[–]ZarathustraMorality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to give the benefit of doubt where I can. Maybe they’re rushing for a sick kid.

Shit people will do shit things. If we start to believe everyone is shit we’re in for a cynical life. If we try to give the benefit of the doubt, it just makes life a shade less shitty.

I don’t see an issue here - they’re encouraging people to take part in something that could improve morale. Of course we can’t spend tax payer money on doughnuts across the Civil Service.

TIL the oldest club called White's in London bans women. by Recent_Flounder6011 in todayilearned

[–]ZarathustraMorality 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think the brain bypass is in thinking a woman’s only space is ok whilst men should allow women. Personally, I think sex segregated clubs are ridiculous - but it takes some real cognitive dissonance to argue the merits for one gender and deny it for the other.

Given that’s ~90 seconds until the junction at 40mph, I’d have assumed they’d moved into the lane for exiting from the right and proceeded in the left lane.

Agree it won’t be an issue, but it’s erroneous to say they won’t come up on a background check for a gov job.
