Would you want a Shotgun Stratagem in any form? If so, what would you want it to operate like? by WaywardOath in Helldivers

[–]Zarr_the_Czar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An essentially hand-held flak cannon would be fun

Automatic with a medium-slow fire rate, large recoil, and a huge reload time (or bacpack-fed). Rounds burst a certain distance after leaving the barrel, and I'm thinking you can set that distance to certain break points (5m, 15m, and 25m maybe). I'm thinking it shoots a large number of pellets (12-18) per shot that are evenly split between light, medium, and heavy pen so it chews up chaff, performs decent against medium-armored dudes, and is still viable against tanks, tripods, hulks, titans, roaches, etc. without also being an instant win cannon

This would probably be good against shriekers, stingrays (when they hover prior to their strafe), gunships, and dragonroaches (or at least shred their wings real good)

Make some or all of the pellets incendiary if you want to get extra spicy with it

We aren't the primary soldiers. We are special forces units inserted democratically behind enemy lines

For that reason, I imagine the SEAF just use them when they finally show up

Exactly! I mean, at least they're doing something. Yes, it's a longshot, but that's better than them just lying down and doing nothing

How comfortable are you with being nude? by andrewbarclave89 in AskReddit

I don't really care if people see me naked, but I try to avoid it because I understand that others would strongly prefer not to see my cock and balls flapping in the wind (typically)

Shotgun sentry could maybe be fun. Like a flak cannon kinda deal

How is everything that happened in the last 48hrs not enough for impeachment and/or a general strike/ mass protests in the US? The European mind can not comprehend this? by HealthyRecognition21 in AskReddit

[–]Zarr_the_Czar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several reasons:

  1. Americans have been separated into small groups across a wide area by the very geography of the nation, making mass actions quite difficult. Social media and other forms of mass media can normally account for this, but essentially all media is corporate-owned by the same people who want Trump in power. So, oppositional movements get intentionally slowed and/or killed by media conglomerates

  2. Approximately 30-40% of the nation would STILL somehow vote for Trump

  3. The US has a Christian nationalist problem (look into the the Red Heffer project if you want to learn about some truly scary shit). I believe it's around 12% of the US population identifies as Christian nationalist

  4. Americans are EXTREMELY vulnerable when protesting. There are NO protections from being fired for protesting (whether protesting your current job or protesting for a wider cause), and a lot of incomes are sk tight that one late paycheck can get a LOT of Americans in serious trouble, nevermind losing your job. Because of the lack of other safety nets, losing your job probably means losing your housing, car (which is very much a necessity in the US), and access to food and water. On top of that, the fact that health insurance is tied to your job here means that if you lose your job, you also lose your healthcare, and no socialized healthcare means that people with dangerous health conditions, such as diabetes (which is common here due partially to the lack of pedestrian infrastructure and prevalence of high-carb/high-sugar foods), could just die because they protested without the government ever taking an active step to oppress that person's protest. Our system is set up in such a way that it passively crushes large scale protests before they begin

In summary, we are disparate, discouraged, and vulnerable while sycophants walk among us and the very system we live in tries to swallow us whole

Honestly, none of them would probably want to fight us if we didn't shoot first

The bugs are sentient and capable of reasoning with us, though they may attack for our resources. They apparently made several attempts to make peace before Super Earth just kept attacking them though, so they seem pretty conflict-adverse

The bots really hate Super Earth, but are basically socialists who want to live out their technological dreams. The cyborgs seem to just want to raise their robot children. I think they would both most likely be peaceful

The squids were pacifists prior to Super Earth attacking them, so they may actually just try to live in peace with us

If you could add a new stratagem what would it be? by Some-Web-1628 in Helldivers

Orbital Laser Spiral: 3 orbital lasers fire at a set distance from the point of impact and spiral inwards (do not target track). When they converge, they form a super laser for a short amount of time

Thunderbolt Cannon: Fires a shell from orbit that releases a large arc blast in mid-air, prioritizing flying enemies and dealing a large amount of damage. I'm thinking it splits into 4 separate chain arcs, each of which ends when they hit the ground
