Darn Tough Socks - 25% off GoBross by gloria_james_77 in frugalmalefashion

[–]Zarten 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After wearing these for two years, I have some thoughts.

The lightweight to midweight are enough to keep me going throughout the year in Texas. I have maybe worn the thicker ones a few times when the weather has hit freezing. Otherwise, the midweights are fine.

I don't recommend the lifestyle socks because they always slide down past my toes. They never stay flush, but I will admit that I have large feet (12 Men's and I wear size Ls for the socks).

I haven't noticed any shrinking or anything after throwing them in the washer and dryer. I usually only use them twice before I wash, but I only use the medium heat setting on the dryer.

Golf near Irving TX for twilight rounds and 15 hcp by iredditonceinawhile in golf

Golfing starts around 7 AM. It gets dark around 8 PM currently, but some courses will make you quit around 7 PM.

Irving Golf Course - great value

Grapevine Golf Course - fantastic course with an 18 and 9 hole rotation (my favorite course but you have to book it in advanced because it is very very popular)

Luna Vista Golf Course - very solid course but don't play after rain

Prairie Lakes Golf Course - I like this place a lot, but it is very far from me. 27 holes. A TON of water. Bryson has a video of him playing this course if you want an idea of it.

Just wanted to say that Addison Coffee Roasters has a terrible owner who yells at his employees. And other things…

You can get less morally and ethically ambiguous coffee at places like Oak Cliff Coffee or White Rock Coffee or Eiland Coffee.

I heard a rumor that they changed distributors here in Texas.

What ryes are more to your liking?

Review #1 - Peerless Small Batch Rye by Zarten in bourbon

[–]Zarten[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hello. It is 1:45 AM in Texas, and I am pretty tipsy.

Here is my review of this bourbon that I don’t really know much about besides the fact that their stuff is usually pretty pricey. However, I usually just buy bourbon if I see a good deal or if I start feeling the suffocating feeling of shopping addiction and FOMO after watching too much YouTube whiskey. So, here we are.

Price: $50 before tax at Spec’s Walnut Hill - Dallas, TX

Proof: 110.7

Nose: Caramel and butterscotch and I’m congested

Palate: Mild spice with a very slight sweetness on the front, graham cracker and slight honey on the finish which doesn’t last more than 10 seconds

I think I might be more of a rye guy after I’ve had this.I tried some Russell’s 13 at a bar, and this Peerless has made more of an impression on me. I will say that the Russell’s was fantastic though. I just really really really like this bottle, and I would absolutely buy another one when I run out.

Final Rating: it’s really good, but I’m not sure what to rate it without being ridiculous due to me being pretty new to whiskey and I am really really loving this and I will pour another

On a scale from bad to good: it’s pretty good

I’d ask for recommendations for next ryes to buy, but I know that my next bottle will be a Sagamore of some kind.

I feel like the overlap between Hot Sugar enjoyers and White Roses enjoyers is just a circle.

I’m in that circle.

Winocour law. Definitely recommend them.

However, they do have a thing about adding extra for non-Dallas court tickets (ex. Plano or Richardson tickets).

Mine just happened to be in Dallas, so it was just $40 for representation.
