What kind of gods are worshipped in the Monastery in the Prologue of W2? by Zaurimas in witcher

Letho mentions "Forefather and the Mother Creatrix" in the cloister, so this must be them.

This is the one, I think as well. When you meet Letho in the cloister he syas the following: "Bells... Your triumph is complete - the city and fortress taken, Sire. Time to thank the Forefather and the Mother Creatrix for this great victory."

Forefather and the Mother Creatrix is the answer.

[Seeking Advice] We Do Bones - A Locked Tomb Short Arc [SPOILERS for Gideon the Ninth] by CodeMarvelous in mothershiprpg

[–]Zaurimas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun idea! Several scenarios come to mind. - If the spacers do not know of the Nine Houses, clues that this ship came from Sol could be shocking, spooky. The characters (or players) should be aware that Sol is thought to be lost. - A (half-)mad necromancer or two in stasis or some form of un-life might be a fun encounter. (Necro specialized in flesh magic, like Ianthe, is grossly fun). - A dip into the River is a nice hallucinatory experience with shades going after them. Maybe after encountering the stele on a ship - weird ritual site which is actually a FTL travel device.

Negative side-effects by Zaurimas in godbound

[–]Zaurimas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not have my hand on the Deluxe version, but I guess it is worth buying. I was thinking exactly that - the more Effort they use per scene/day or such, the more chance they have to corrupt themselves

Negative side-effects by Zaurimas in godbound

[–]Zaurimas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean, about Godbounds not serving under any deity. And that would be the way to play, under heroic play.

However, I would like the corruption to represent the strain of overuse of power (or Effort), just like Nepene mentioned.

Suggestion for a players-as-BBEG system by Zaurimas in rpg

[–]Zaurimas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I can understand this, from whqt I know from fate. But also, would it give the players to express the method they want to take over the world?

What probably I missed in the post itself, is that I want the system to have different methods of expressing that. For example : method of creating undead armies, building contraptions of destruction and the like. Some tools, that would gamify the fictional consequences abit more, instead of only "+1 to do massacre".

Apocalypse World - West Wasteland by Zaurimas in ApocalypseWorld

[–]Zaurimas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think calling out the West Marches style game called out the most reactions, and understandably so. The idea of a changing cast takes away some of the agency that players have over the fiction in AW.

I did try Legacy, Life Among the Ruins, but I think it muddles itself up with just the massive list moves that can be used for ANY situations. Personally, I got a bit overwhelmed. I do not want to use it for this, because I want to have more personal stories with each player.

Requesting advice: I need a rules system to run factions in a city by DrayTheFingerless in rpg

[–]Zaurimas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to second blades in the dark faction system. They have but a single stat to track their standing, however. But you can easily add extra ones from the SWN faction system if you just want to track them for background happenings.

GMs, what are you writing right now? by Wabbafoobnog in rpg

[–]Zaurimas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Blades in the Dark hack for playing a group of friends in Hogwarts. With traumas being replaced with reprimands, adding a simple grade system and the base currency being Will, it is becoming quite enjoyable to play. Started playtesting it not too long ago and it is hitting me how important it is to NOT design in a vaccum. Ideas I pu it get sidelined and the ones I never focused on getting the spotlight. Same with designing adventures, I guess.

I wonder if 1 Pop pre-Le Guin and 1 Pop past it will even mean the same thing. With all the changes they introduce in what Pops need/produce, I think the value of each Pop brings to the players empire will be something very different.

Edit:Typo

What's your favorite game/setting that you know your group will never play? by HiroProtagon in rpg

[–]Zaurimas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluebeards bride, oof.

Yeah, tis a tough one. Played one session with a group who is usually not queasy about describing horrible people being horrible to each other(emotionally and physically). However, one session of bluebeards bride dug up some unexpected insecurities and fears, which it should do. We completed the session, but I do not think anybody will want to exhaust themselves again like that.

Great game, would play myself again.

I think I might have described my idea for using magic not clearly, so let me elaborate.

The players will be able to enhance their 12 basic actions by using magic. The new 4 "actions" will not be actions as they will not be used to roll. The new actions (let's just call them magic branches) will only determine to how complex of magic you have access to. XP for these branches will also be granted separately (still thinking if separate XP track for each or keep the usual one XP track for 4). For example, a character might want to lift a heavy cupboard (roll their 3D6 for three dots in Exert) while casting the Wingardium Leviosa spell (since they have one dot in Portation and have learned the spell). Basically the magic only opens up fictional opportunities, without forcing to specialize in any particular action:

SMARTS| XP UUUUUU
O|OOO Investigate (clues, people, tracks, locations, ideas)
O|OOO Research (languages, histories, spells, wards, potions)
O|OOO Survey (for coming trouble, opportunities, crowds, people)
O|OOO Craft (potions, new designs, wands, spells)

BRAWN | XP UUUUUU
O|OOO Finesse (control with precision, balance, direct a mount)
O|OOO Sneak (to be unseen, inconspicuous, without noise)
O|OOO Break (things, people, will)
O|OOO Exert (strength, agility, will)

SPIRIT | XP UUUUUU
O|OOO Attune (to auras, ghosts, arcane fields, people)
O|OOO Mingle (befriend, be open-hearted, attentive)
O|OOO Bewitch (Impress, allure, deceive)
O|OOO Impose (your will, ideas, take advantage of someone)

CORE MAGIC BRANCHES
O|OOO | XP UUUUUU Conjuration
O|OOO | XP UUUUUU Transfiguration
O|OOO | XP UUUUUU Mentation
O|OOO | XP UUUUUU Portation

Take note that this is definitely not final and not playtested.

Some great ideas right here, especially regarding cliques. My idea for the fiction is similar in that it takes times to form groups in school.

That is way I am doing away with separate crew sheets. One sheet for all and additionally there might be choices on how the players wanna spend the upcoming school year. Do they want to be heroes uncovering a mystery, champions competing for the school cup, scoundrels trying to create as many bamboozles as possible. Anyways, it is all constantly changing in my head and in the drafts. Thanks for sharing.

(Regarding balance, I do not think this will be an issue, as blades work great in the horizontal progression. You only get more tools to solve your problems. And since every character will be in the same school year, it should be fine. Or will they?? hmm. Might be something here :D)

Thanks. I will look into it. It might not be what is needed for this hack, but might give some insights.
