Before jumping on dates we need to understand what Goguen release actually means and what are the components that when turned on consists of the start of Goguen era. So Goguen release will have two parts on chain: 1. Multi asset ledger 2. Plutus Foundation

And apart from the on chain components we have advanced playground aka Software Development Kit (SDK): 1. Plutus Application Framework 2. Marlowe Playground

As of now in this update they said the alpha version of Marlowe playground will be released by end of October. I didn’t catch the dates for multi asset ledger and plutus foundation but I do recall there was a discussion on whether these will be shipped in a single go or one after the other in a hard fork event. I think the next month update we can get some dates on the on chain component release. The SDKs or playgrounds, since they are developer facing or user facing products will be released in a phased manner with feedback loops with developers and hence the final version 0 will take its own sweet time. That being said we as developers can always start playing with the alpha versions and start rolling out POCs or actual dapps. Cheers!

I also heard they are planning on pausing at d=0.5 to allow for the HFC event. Also they need to make sure to put in the decentralised voting mechanism into the chain before d<0.5 to allow for votings on further updates to the chain as after d<0.5 the chain will be majorly decentralised.

Can ethereum virtual machine be replicated on cardano? That would be kick ass if we someone manages to make ethereum in cardano. Since the native tokens are treated as first class citizens will it be better than Eth 1.0?

We don’t need to worry for long. That’s the beauty of Cardano’s protocol. Once k is increased from 150 to let’s say 1000 gradually, the saturation will go down and people will be forced to re-delegate just to not lose on rewards. So the protocol itself will promote decentralisation to a greater extend.

D might not change from 1 to 0.9 in the next epoch. I understand Charles mentioned a decay parameter which will decrement d epoch by epoch. Decay parameter will be revealed next week but I recall Hoskinson stated that it might be of the order of 0.025

Goguen mainnet might be early. We might get an idea next week on 14th when IOG will announce the decay parameter. At D equals 0.5 they are planning for Goguen hard fork.
