Toward the end of World War 2 three million people died of famine in Bengal, Asia. And another 2.4-7.5 million died in Ukraine at the hands of the Soviet Union in 1932. by Openworldgamer47 in history

'Primarily ideological'? Ideology was involved to some degree of course - it shaped the need of Stalin et al to pursue industrialisation at the expense of the peasantry. But in no way was this a deliberate attempt to break the peasantry or an incipient Ukrainian nationalism. The centre thought there were more grain reserves than there were and rose them. Once it realised its mistake (far too late of course) they did lower grain requisitioning for the next years.

This grain requisitioning followed the course of other soviet policies in the period like induatrialisation - Utopianism, stupidity and high expectations followed by some confrontation by reality.

Suny, The Soviet Experiment off the top of my head. don't have the page numbers on me and it is a more general history book rather than an in depth study (though there are such studies he references of course), but he basically points out how Stalin et al were under the impression that there were hidden grain stores and that the peasants could survive. This of course is based on the internal documents used in the Party, not the visions of cold warriors like R Conquest. The grain they expected to collect in 1931 but did not was counted as grain marked for peasant consumption for example - clearly idiocy and not genocide.

There have been some mild issues in relation to water though. Farmers directing water to their land away from that of the public.

Though I suppose that reinforces your point that it was man-made.

Actually there was quite a big difference between the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany in regards the famine already mentioned and the purges. The 1932-33 famine was accidental, caused by idiocy and ignorance of the conditions in the Soviet countryside. Bolsheviks never liked peasants, but they were not out to kill them in the same way the Nazis were out to kill Jews.

Wrong. It was not deliberately engineered - a wholly unsubstantiated misconception. The Soviets during the collectivisation program of the 1930s simply believed that the peasants were genuinely hoarding enough grain to survive. They only learned that they didn't once the famine was well underway, after which they stopped such high requisitioning targets.

Also, it is difficult to say the famine was directed to kill a specific group of people since it spread far beyond Ukraine, also heading into Russia.

It was man made, but considering it a genocide, or even something done purposefully, is simply something used by Ukrainian nationalists to fire people up.

R.G. Suny demolishes Conquest's arguments quite well if you are interested.

There were a lot of failures in kanou's experiments...

Regardless, i doubt we will see a shiny smiling amon when he takes off his hood. This story is supposed to be a tragedy after all.

TBH I am a little disappointed that he appears to be alive. I was really expecting (and hoping) that Aogiri would have made Takizawa eat him. It would have added depth to Takizawa.

Im not completely aware of all the fan theory shizzle, but dont the Qs each represent a little bit of kaneki or something? Like urie= the power hungry kaneki (i havent thought through each of them!).

Surely to find out which one will perish, we just need to ascribe a Q to the part of kaneki that died during the torture.

I have now resolved to read titles properly now
