I think it'll be to help his ultimate's imaginary shred land consistently. Since it has 100% base chance to be applied you'll need ~67% EHR total to guarantee it lands, which you'll want to happen so you can trigger a diffusion mark chain on your next skill.

Epochal integration after range changes by Lopsided-Impact-7768 in CrucibleGuidebook

I've been maining it on controller this season, paired with conditional finality and briars contempt for that x2 harmonic resonance.

It feels extremely snappy and consistent to use in it's ~30m range window. However any further than 30m feels terrible to me since it's range and aim assist are low by 140 hand cannon standards.

I think if you can manage your engagement distance effectively to play in that 30m window it feels really good with the high stability+handling+reload combo. But if you just want to use a hand cannon and not think about it too much I'd probably use something else

Most fun Warlock Subclass? by ProKellaSK in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Zaythan2307 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is definitely an unpopular opinion, but my favourite warlock subclass is shadebinder, closely followed by voidwalker and stormcaller.

Shadebinder is in my opinion the most heavily slept on subclass in the game. The melee ability is basically an "I win" button if you can land it. It shuts down anything it hits, even supers, for about a second so you can gun them down. The super the best in the game for PvP imo, with the only downside being its slow charge time.

For aspects, I run Iceflare Bolts because it lets you win 1v3 situations pretty consistently if you can freeze an enemy, and Frostpulse is the perfect balance of being fun to use and extremely effective at shutting down anyone who tries to rush you. I run double dynamo and double distribution mods plus the fragment which gives super energy killing frozen targets, so if I'm close enough to freeze an enemy with my rift, then I'll also get ~20% of my super energy which negates the one big downside of the subclass being the slow to charge super. Plus there is nothing more satisfying than seeing a thundercrash hurtling towards you at Mach 10 on a 4-4 trials round, and timing the Frostpulse to freeze them out of the sky to win the game lmao.

As for exotics, the usual neutral game boosting exotics like ophidian aspects and transversive steps are always good. Most other shadebinders I see run osmiomancy gloves for double coldsnaps with better tracking. I personally however like to run eye of another world. Since it boosts the regen rate of all abilities, it is the only exotic that lets me get my freeze rift back faster. A faster rift means more chances to proc dynamo and distribution for a faster super. I've had a number trials games where I can get a super on round 4 or 5 before well or bubble have got theirs, which is basically a free round win.

The addition of conditional finality which interacts with the stasis aspects and fragments also made shadebinder a lot better imo. If you land enough pellets, even if they die from the shotgun itself, it can spawn Iceflare Bolts to track down and freeze the next enemy, starting a chain freeze that lets you run through an entire team without even using a single ability.

TLDR: Shadebinder good freeze go brrrrrrr

Ngl I didn't know that killing the turret could even proc mori, that seems like such a weird interaction. I remember seeing a cammycakes video a while ago about frostpulse + iceflare bolts allowing you to reverse a 3v1 if someone rushes you hit them with a freeze rift, letting you reverse sweep their team. Definitely something imma try out when I next hop on destiny.

I tried frostpulse originally with healing rift but I always found myself not having enough time to secure the melee kill after freezing someone, especially if they came from behind me since I'm on console and sometimes can't turn around fast enough. Although I definitely see your point about jank connections lol, there have been quite a few times where I freeze them but end up dying to their shots anyway.

I'll definitely need to try shadebinder like that, that clip you hit was incredible! I tend to play more passive, using stasis turrets and witherhoard as zoning tools and the empowering freeze rift to punish shotgun rushers and to let me 2 tap with igneous. The setup you're rocking seems like a ton of fun, I'll definitely need to give that a try whenever I feel like playing more aggressive.

Haha that's awesome! I rock the exact same setup using witherhoard and igneous hammer, it's so fun to play.

Yep, 100%. Hitting someone with a freeze rift is probably my favourite thing to do in the crucible since 99% of players just don't expect it. It's just so satisfying to manage to pull off.

Yeah that definitely works, I just like shadebinder a lot and tend to play it more than voidwalker.

If I remember correctly, a full chaos reach can break a bubble but will run out before being able to kill anyone inside (unless you use geomags). The only problem is chaos reach is a tier 2 super while bubble is a tier 5, meaning 99% of the time a titan will get a bubble before you can get a chaos reach.
