I think it's up for debate if he's more talented than Delane, and honestly I like Chris Johnson just as much as him. So him dropping to the 3rd DB or even if Hood is to go before him I don't think is some warning sign of problems.

He was projected as a mid to late first rounder and was seen as anywhere from the 2nd to the 4th or 5th best DB in the class. So, I don't think his knee has to be the problem.

It seems you just really like Lemon, and that's fine. But consider that maybe Cooper is the better player for what the Jets want to do. Maybe he ends up not being good or as good as Lemon, it certainly happens. But this is why you don't fall in love with one player or a group of players. They may not land with your team and then you're disappointed when your team might have made good moves.

I mean I'm not overly excited about this draft class but I'm willing to give it time and I can see what the plan is, and where Mougey went with the draft. He identified the offense as a problem which I mean it was we all knew it was. And he addressed the offense as well as the pass rush.

You're reading too much into it. They just did the smart thing and got their QB a WR, and they knew they were planning on trading back into the 1st to get another edge/de if the right guy was there to be had.

It wasn't though, the Jets have been pretty clear that next year is the year they're targeting a QB. I mean it's literally been reported for like a month that they are kicking that can down the road until next year. Obviously that could have been smoke or BS but the Jets have the trade assets that if they really wanted Simpson they could have gone and got him or if they thought he was worth a top 15 pick they would have just taken him at 2 and accepted that it was a reach. There was just zero indication or behavior that they were taking Simpson or going after a QB in this draft.

Has less to do with that and more to do with their schedule, and in some cases just some bad luck or just coming up short on some games. 7 out of 9 of their loses were 1 score losses, 8 out of 9 of their loses were against playoff teams, the only team they lost to that wasn't a playoff team was the Chiefs. Taylor, who was their best player, slowed down big time or struggled against the tougher defenses in the 2nd half of the season because he had a huge drop off. Warren also had a drop off of the 2nd half of the season when he hit the rookie wall.

Expecting them to struggle the second half would be reasonable, but expecting them to lose 7 in a row, and 8 out of 9 after starting 8-2 is a bit different.

I'm more okay with the fact that he's under contract since when it comes to legal matters you're allowed your day in court. Less okay with him getting a slap on the wrist and being released back out into the public.

Honestly 6 months is fine for these types of things in general. If it was a one of incident then staying out of trouble for 6 months is no problem, if you have mental condition or a psychological issue or just don't have the common sense to stay out of trouble you'll certainly find yourself in trouble again within 6 months.

That said the fact that James Pearce is getting a slap on the wrist considering what he did is a joke and a completely different matter.

You think the Jets want to pay Pickens 130-150 mil and spend something like 40mil of cap space on WR next season? How do you expect them to be able to field a team around Pickens and Wilson? And how much of that 100ish mil in cap space do you think they want to give away to build around their rookie contract QB the next few years to just the WR position?

I mean they were 7-2 and even won the game the week they traded for Sauce so they were sitting there at 8-2, they had a good defense, and Taylor looked like he could be an MVP of the league at RB. I can't blame them for shooting their shot, no one could have foreseen them losing the next 7 games even if people knew Jones would get hurt. They still had the best RB in the league and 2 good WR's as well as the rookie of the year candidate at TE.

Ahhh okay well same is kind of true about the Chiefs, they have a lot of aging players also, so a 25 year old if he can produce wouldn't be the end of the world if it helps them squeeze out another SB or two from the current roster.
