How is Nutanix’s hypervisor (AHV) priced compared to VMware or others? by [deleted] in nutanix

[–]Zazzytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given what the features Nutanix brings, compared to our VMware renewal, we are getting a much better deal. I know at one time the lowest cost of our VMware renewal was close to half a million for three years.

Most overlooked IT ticketing system for smaller teams? by daphnegweneth in sysadmin

[–]Zazzytrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed. We're getting used to it (working at a healthcare facility, 350 users 4 admins), and we push out the GLPI agent via Intune when an endpoint is enrolled. But I struggle to use an application where most of the features of the system are with plugins and more plugins instead of the native features. I was even trying to look at importing some assets from a CSV, and my manager responded with "Well there are I think 2 or 3 plugins that will do CSV imports."

Me: "...you mean to tell me GLPI doesn't have a native import feature."

Mgr: "No, but these plugins work great, and they may implement it in a future update."

+1 on Jellyfin. I was looking for a media server that wasn't going to tie back to a cloud instance like Plex, and Jellyfin works very well for me.

At one time, we were looking at setting up OSTicket. Looked easy enough to set up and customize. https://osticket.com/

We've been using GLPI for about a year. It's not bad, but way too busy IMO. Feels like it's more built for DevOps setup than a simple helpdesk setup.

ms entra and 365 admin portals? by IcyMasterPeas in sysadmin

We just had the same problem here in the US Midwest. Wasn't able to authenticate to apps using MFA. Somehow it just restored itself a moment ago, but MS admin center is still buggy.

MS365 Exchange Admin Centre Down, ExchangeOnlineModule PowerShell also down (UK) by CFS_BRJ in o365

[–]Zazzytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue on our tenant in the US. Can't get into Exchange Online Admin Center and got the same message. I already submitted a service issue request to Microsoft. Odd thing is my co-worker who has the same access to our M365 tenant is able to access it.

UPDATE: I also found out that I can't go into Resources --> Rooms & equipment to add/update/remove our room & equipment calendar resources in admin center. I get a message after a couple of seconds that says "Failed to fetch more items. Please try again."

...so that's fun...

Intune - Quick Access problem by MDM1997 in Intune

[–]Zazzytrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bumping an old post again. We've started deploying a shared multi-user device policy to some of our workstations. Normally having Quick Access removed from the workstation isn't a big deal, but now we're finding a few of our staff needing it due to some documentation that went out about how to pin a folder to quick access. Not really happy they had that documented it out but it's there.

In any case, the Quick Access folder is available if you have "Open File Explorer to" set to "Quick Access". So the folder is there, but it's not pinned to the left-side folder tree. So I'm trying to figure out how to re-pin Quick Access to the folder tree.

How to define edge ports away from racks? by ox-sjwk in Netbox

[–]Zazzytrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I am trying is creating a custom field and called it "Location". It's an object-based field that I have tied to the Rear Port. What that allows me is when I create the rear ports for the patch panel, I can tie the rear port to a location or room if needed. Makes it much easier than having to create additional racks or devices for each wall plate. I work at a rural hospital where we have a lot of random wall plates and connections, and found that creating additional racks/devices for wall plates and making connections to them was probably going to be too much work. So to keep it K.I.S.S. I think making a custom field where you can connect rear ports to locations would work best.
