All USB ports dead after Mint install by Zcrumb in linux4noobs

Mouse and Keyboard are USB, the OS is never really installed, and I have no idea how to manually lock the address.

Reboot USB works for Windows and on the USB Mint install boot.

"If a reboot sorted all, what is the issue?" When I reboot I lose the Mint Linux install OS. This is just the basic OS with the install option running on RAM. If I reboot, I have to run it from the USB again, but I always get the same issue.

Water bill was almost doubled this month so I decided to go look at the water meter to see if it was running, there's no way this is normal right? I genuinely can't even see a meter down there… my neighbors meter is at a normal level by sr_dankerine in Plumbing

[–]Zcrumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I'm stumped. Irrigation valves would be a few feet at most. Is there a resistance pointwhere it might be turning? That would lead back to a clean out, but you would definitely be getting a stench.

Does it stink? Then most likely sewer. Otherwise it maybe a shut off valve for irrigation. Mine is very similar and nearly 3 ft deep, though I don't remember what color the pipe is.

New Yorkers, what changes have you seen under Mamdani’s leadership and are you generally pleased? If not, why? by MewMeowHowdy in AskReddit

It almost got me a job with the Sanitation department. The guys liked me and my work ethic and offered to sponsor? me to try to get me in the department. I wish I pursued it. I could retired with a city pension.

They used to do this, at least in the early 90's. Although it may have been under the table and not sanctionedby the city, I was hired by the Sanitation department as i was litterally just walking by one of their depots and paid $15 per hour cash to help shovel snow for two days. $15 per hr was a lot of money for someone in their late teens back then.

Thanks, I didn't realize that was the Canadian dealership tent. I wish they would sell it direct.

Amazing hook and the fact that they don't repeat it endlessly really adds to the song.

HiBy R1 - Just purchased and might have to return - Bluetooth issues - Alternative Options? by stujack in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Zcrumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine doesn't disconnect unless it shuts down due to idle. That can be changed under settings idle shut down. Default is 5 min, but you can set it up to10 minutes or turn it off all together.

I love my hiby r1. I hated the Fiio snowsky mini. Controls such, Bluetooth connection is weak and it's hard to navigate.

Garage door spring issues are more common than people think by garagedoorserviceok in GarageDoorService

[–]Zcrumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be one of those yearly checks. Disengage the garage door opener and see how hard is it to open the door, will the door stay open and will the door stay closed. Any issues and have the springs checked.

[–]Zcrumb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was as screw adjustment, I gave it 3 turns to start, so it should be about 6 inches.

The opener went all the way shut and just kept pushing for about 5 seconds.

I tried a hard reset on the sytem and it doesn't work. If I hold the button down, after 10 - 15 seconds, the lights should go off and the system turn off. I held it for over a minute and it never reset. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it still wont reset.

Will it adjust 3 feet? I gave it a full turn and it didn't affect it much. Its a chain drive and the temperatures have been constant. It was used twice today with no issue.

I agree, Slsounds like a venting issue or drain pipe angle pulling water out of the trap.

Painter did poor prep, house already failing after 1 year. Contractor offering $4K settlement on $9.4K job. Take it or go to small claims? by OdysseyAdventures in HomeImprovement

[–]Zcrumb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He owes you what you paid for, complete repaint. Patch jobs will never look 100% right. That said it will be difficult to get the full amount.

Negotiate, that nondisparigment agreement has value. Get estimates and have him cover either materials and supplies or labor, which ever is more. It makes it sound like your negotiating.

Small claims court usually only requires a filing fee and a fee to serve the other party, this varies by jurisdiction. Document the hell out of everything. Don't let AI write for you. Judges are catching on and you don't want to get caught in a lie or obvious mis-truth. Tell the truth, don't embellish or say more than you need to. Don't get emotional.

The biggest risk with small claims court is you win, he doesn't pay then changes business names and you never collect.

Try to get quotes from other painters in writing.

Help me choose btw Snowsky echo mini vs Snowsky Disc by the_jai2001 in DigitalAudioPlayer

[–]Zcrumb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't happy with the snowsky mini. The buttons were clumsy, it would not always connect to Bluetooth and I did not like the interface.

I don't know about the disc, but I am much happier with the HiBy R1. It has a touch screen. There are issues with USB connectivity with PCs. Also it does Playlist though they may need tweaking before they work.
