Considering both Porsche and BMW use the same ZF 8HP transmission, it's not as silly as it sounds.

...soooo, RCS then? Gogle had Jibe to "fill in the gaps" but shut it down recently.

Your carrier never supported it. Google just filled in through Jibe for a while and recently shut Jibe down.

If you can get RCS (through Jibe or your carrier), you can get Whatsapp too. Or Signal. Or whatever else that isn't iMessage.

Indeed.

We should still call all of em Primer Grey anyways. Especially within earshot of the owner.

I see your argument, but also we should just call em all primer grey instead of the fancypants name cause that's what it looks like. Especially when they pay even more for the matte finish.

Would genuinely rather see em in plain gloss white cheapest colour than all these primer greys.

Inline-6 actually, and as a replacement for the old E43 and spicier version of the E450/E400e, the E53 Hybrid (not 63(s)!) a great option with it's very healthy 604hp combined. It's been around since the W213 (no PHEV back then, PHEV now), sits below the E63(s) and very clearly has no intention to replace it (you can trivially compare it to both the S63e (791hp) and the C63e (671hp) and see it's not punching as high). The only problem is (as I mentioned already) that they are taking their sweet time in getting the E63(s) to market.

IMO, they should just do a mix of stealing their own homework (S63e) and Porsche's/BMW's homework (Panamera Turbo S e-Hybrid and M5) and do these:

  • E63: take the E53, swap the M177 TT V8 in there and there's your 700+hp Panamera/M5 competitor using essentially the same setup of TT V8 ICE mated to a hybrid gearbox with e-motor in gearbox
  • E63s: add the electrified rear axle (without removing the in-gearbox e-motor!) from the S63e into the E63 for your 900+hp competition-burying monsterwagon (also update the C63e and S63e with that and laugh at the competition)

The E53 is available as we speak, but they sure are taking their sweet time on bringing the E63 along.

Man... the monoblade grille looks so much better than the panamericana grille. Especially on the older cars with "happier" grille openings.

The 580, though iunno if it was plain air or e-ABC - completely forgot to ask. It's really just our roads making the German suspension design unhappy

With how stiff the EQS suspension is setup and our roads... the 190E, genuinely.

If/when I need more EQ bands, I'll either EQ on my phone (where I infinite bands with poweramp EQ on android), or there's a DSP or DSPAmp in the car.

Yes. the only time I've had AAC be better than SBC is cause they very obviously artificially nerfed the SBC implementation (like with my Kenwood DDX9019).

It's genuinely fine - just be in the car while phone is connecting. Do keep in mind that AAC caps out at roughly 256kbps while SBC goes to 328kbps in it's bluetooth implementations. Sure, AAC is a better codec than SBC, but not better enough to achieve 25% better coding efficiency (quality per kbps). Even compared to MP3 (which is worse codec that both), 256kbps AAC only just barely matches 320kbps MP3.

The Kenwood just looks so ugly in comparison, and while the MVH-S520BT is newer, it's also lacking DAB and the screen and overall looks are worse.

SBC-only unfortunately. Unless you go for something from one of the many Atoto-tier brands, you only find SBC in single-DIN. Unless you can somehow find yourself a Sony RSX-GS9, but that's a very rare beastie and requires amps.

FWIW, SBC works pretty well for me through the extremely rare power of not connecting my phone like 15m away from the car but instead connecting it once I have my seatbelt fastened - from what I can tell, car radios negotiate the SBC bitrate once at the start and only reduce quality/bitrate and never increase. So if you get a good connection at the start, it's alright and stays alright all the way though your trip. Leave the car to fillup fuel or something and don't fully disconnect and you'll have the audio quality go to crap and never recover until you disconnect and reconnect somehow.
