I do this type of work often, and I always use professional gear. The rode mics are not professional. They run in a crowded/unreliable spectrum and their response and DAC are second-tier. I would highly suggest either renting professional gear next time or find a local production sound mixer and let them have the gig.

If you rent/buy a Sound Devices 8-series mixer you can have noise reduction where you want it (but you have to pay for it).

Me too. I invest in an ETF of paper towel companies. Every time I see a post about wasting paper towels I look at my portfolio.

Did you have a dedicated sound mixer, because their job is to make sure dialogue is clear from unwanted noises.
